Well this morning, news servers are going at 300kb/s which I am happy about. If I test HTTP it runs at maybe 8kb/s - not good at all for 4mb.
Streaming is bad, can't even watch rugby. Online gaming seems to be working again. Did not work last night at all. But at least I can download again and play games. Just sad I am missing the rugby again.

VB Gold has been the pits today but will let it slide because performance this week was exceptional:)

I are wif newsdemon

That's bizarre man i am as well and whether i use the ssl or normal it goes at full speed.

Have you reboot the router? hahaha i know i sound like a broken record but it worked for me in the past, i dunno why but the last 2 weeks it has been full speed 24/7.

Hello Friends,

I am currently deeply concerned about the state of the Telkom ADSL network. This week we have seen a large increase in faults logged where the blame was with the clients Telkom exchange being congested.

I would just like to post a few tell tale signs of a congested exchange:

1. The speeds drop drastically at around the same time everyday
2. Latency increases to excessive levels
3. A router reboot sometimes fixes the problem for a short time

If you experience these symptons, please contact Telkom on 0800 375 375 and go through to the DSL Technical Support department. (Do not attempt any other department, as you will be greeted by general incompetence).

Please log a fault, as the more folks whom become vocal about this problem the quicker it will be resolved.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

I think this might be what is happening here this weekend :( Latency has increased a lot...so much so it's impossible to game online. Speeds have also dropped yet again.

7pm to 7am is apparently very good.

Experiencing really crappy connectivity again tonight (for the umpteenth time in the past few months now) rendering our connection practically useless.

I contacted mweb some time ago to see if they could sort us out with a test account when we had consistently poor connectivity for 2-3 weeks straight, but by the time their sales guy got back to me (1.5 weeks later) the 'issues' had reduced to a point where they were tolerable, so I never got back to them.

At this point, however, I think I will try and get a test account out of them again if for nothing other than to see if I experience issues on one of their accounts while I'm experiencing issues on our Openweb account.

We've been happy Openweb customers for years now, but the consistency of the service quality is simply becoming too erratic to keep a straight face anymore, and I cannot think that it is a matter of 'congested exchanges' for us, as we live out in the countryside where most people believe dialup is still the best internet connection available.

After struggling with low speeds all day, and several reboots of my modem, I decided to log into my telkom account and it ran at full speed on nntp. Logged back into my openweb account ant it ran at full speed again.
Maybe u guys should also try it. Just don't limit your speed. I had to repeat the above process when I did that.

I just saw you are not on openweb gold, you should either go with mweb or get openweb gold. The lite and standard packages are not great.
