Openweb Uncapped Feedback

I've had to switch to my telkom account to get any type of download working without them hanging in limbo today. Torrents are crawling this evening avg 0.1K. Mr Beep please give us feedback on what is being done to remedy this. Mweb account users don't appear to be having such disastrous throttling.
 
Having no luck trying to sign in to STEAM. Been like this since Saturday. Surfing seems ok but EVERYTHING else is SLOOOOW:(
 
good grief, the throttling is shocking!!! I'm getting about 10kb/s on news servers. on a 4 MEG line! this is a joke. if this situation is not resolved soon, i WILL be taking my business to MWEB!
 
My word, its painstakingly slooooow. Hopefully this is an error on the IS network that can be resolved. Even HTTP downloads are almost dead. :(
 
I managed to download the A State of Trance 448 from local BitTorrent website in 12 hours, it's only 224Mb big.

Left work around 8pm and checked my BT download (also local seeds), 3k/s......
 
is anybody from openweb watching this thread? is anybody looking into the problem ?

We are closely monitoring this thread. We understand what a bad name this product is currently causing us, and have asked IS to relook their offering to at least match that of Mweb. We are communicating with them constantly to achieve this.

AWESOME! I am really happy to hear that the issues are on the Openweb radar. its really frustrating to hear the darned MWEB guys brag about how their dloads are flying along with no visible or significant throttling, while we seem to be getting shafted with horrific throttling :-( Hope it gets sorted out soon.

Looks like I will be going with mweb uncapped cos this service truly sucks. RS downloads maxing at 50KB, news server fails and youtube. The force is weak with openweb uncapped
 
oh dear I am the only one that is really happy with my Openweb account.....:whistle:

yeah I have had a few problems like user name not being recognized when I restarted my router on Sunday and sometimes it really slows down but hey I get good speeds browsing and fantastic speeds for http downloading so I am one very happy ''camper''......:D

Looks like you're on 384k, so it wont bother you as much. The rest of us on 4mbit lines can do pretty much nothing that utilizes our full line speed since we're shaped to hell. And openweb refuses to give a refund :)

By the way, even on 384k a ping of 138ms - 533ms is horrible.
 
Well at least I can log into Steam this morning! Torrents still @ 30k on my 4mb line (peaked at about 120k briefly between 5 and 6 am) but http is streaming nicely. Guess I'll have to keep hulu fired up all day long. Got lots of 'TV' to catch up on :)
 
If 4Meg lines are shaped to 30Kb then 384k lines should be shaped 3KB. It would appear that the shaping being applied does not consider the accessing line speed which effectively means the extra you are paying for a 4Meg line is being shaped away.
 
Quickie, can you access the IS news server (not that you really want to) with the uncapped package?

When I tried over the weekend, it was slower that watching paint dry.

And what usenet access do you guys mostly use? I use Astra 180GB bulk deals.

I used mine this past weekend with the IS news server and I got full line speed all the way. However this past 2 days, its been extremely slow, however, torrents were maxing out this morning before I left for work. :)
