Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Well I have just confirmed with a telkom technician that my line is in fact syncing at 4mbit. He even reset my port for me. So I too would like to ask the question why the hell are we getting these slow speeds. Especially at night damnit.

OK, I'm getting super-tired of this.

EVERY TIME, without fail, when I reboot my router, for an indeterminate period of time, I can't connect to OpenWeb -- my router reports PAP Authentication error.

Now, I'm a Linux boy -- I don't like to reboot. The last reboot was done at the behest of an OpenWeb SMS support response where I was informed that there had been some "extensive changes on my account" because I had SMS'd for support on exactly this problem, and apparently said changes required my router to be rebooted.

As much as I have a sour taste in my mouth from Afrihost, I never had this problem there -- suggesting that the problem is not with my router, but rather with whatever is doing the PAP auth at OpenWeb (I'm assuming).

Please sort this out. It's well annoying.

+1

I find that I disconnect every so often on OpenWeb (really annoying when you're playing an MMO and find yourself disconnecting amidst a high spawn area) and then it takes 5-10 minutes to get through the PAP authentication crap.

So yeah, please fix it :)

I have tested my line with an Afrihost prepaid account and it flies. There is definitely something wrong with these accounts. I am pretty annoyed at this point in time, mailing MrBeep everyday it just not an option anymore...

Hi Friends,

Internet Solutions seems to be shaping these lines too much. I will take this up with them.

Good news is that we have concluded a deal with the major network provider that will allow us to sell their superior services without having to send our clients their way. This will launch early June if all goes according to plan. We will communicate with our clients, and provide them with the option of moving.

In the meantime, I know it is a pain, but please email me if your account is slow. I would rather try everything I can to make you happy until we can join the superior network.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

Well I'm not moving away from openweb just yet. Mr Beep sorted out my problem and my connection is flying again. And the fact that he replies to my emails so quickly is a hell of a lot more than you can say from the service I received from Afrihost.

Thank you so much Mr Beep. :D

Looks like there are a light at the end of this tunnel.

MrBeep, what is it exactly that you're doing when we email you our usernames that solves the problem, at least temporarily?

So far I'm very fond of dealing with Keoma/MrBEEP. I love getting feedback :D

I have had nothing but great service from Openweb, especially from Keoma.

Other companies, including IS, could learn from them.

Is it just me or are they shaping the living hell out of these lines?

My steam client does not update, login with my WA account (Prepaid) and whola, steam updates. But once updated I switch back to OW, then I can download games as per normal. I suppose the update uses diffrent port??

I just about gave up on torrents. I dont get more than 0.1 - 2.0 KB/s. But on prepaid it flies.

I would also like to know what magic happens at the openweb HQ when we mail Keoma and then suddenly we have full speed again...

Keoma...spill the beans... :-)

my speed tests, have emaild koema, now just waiting for responce....

Hey Friends,

We are completing negotiations with a new provider, and if all goes according to plan, we will be sending out a mailer to our clients offering the ability to move away from IS from 1 May to the new network.

This network will offer far superior and consistenly good speeds, which is what our clients have come to expect from an OpenWeb account.

I will keep this thread updated.

I sincerely apologize about this!

Kind regards
MrBEEP
