Hey Friends

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your loyal support. I am really sorry that Internet Solutions have dealt us this card. I do wish our new provider was ready for us, but i'm afraid not just yet!

Negotiating with IS at this stage is a wasted excercise. They simply are not interested. Needless to say, we have to provide our clients with a superior service until end May! We are absolutely NOT stopping here.

Please keep emailing me! Don't give up!! I will always try and assist! We have successfully sorted out quite a few of our clients already.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

Keoma around what time do speeds usually improve/classified as after hours?

Hi Optimal01

Im afraid these times are not published. I would think 19:00 should be seen as off peak, however, from user experience, it can be anytime.

Keoma around what time do speeds usually improve/classified as after hours?

When in doubt... return to hobby and wait till speeds improve *fits waterblock to GTX 470*

just to give all an indication how speeds are at 5:50 in the morning (just got home after work)

this is done on my 4meg uncapped account

IS uncapped

to london

to capetown

Anyone else on a gold uncapped account getting poor speeds ? My NOD32 and Rapidshare downloads keep on timing out, and browsing is really slow and sluggish at certain intervals. However, earlier this morning after 1am, it was flying.

On myside with 4mbit HTTP seems ok and if i use an app like DAP i can get around 200kbs although speeds jump all over the place though.
Usenet/torrents for me are dead, max 50kb

Speeds are throttled during the day :(
Check this post on the axxess accounts

complained about the speeds of my 4Mibt account over the weekend and here's the reply I got from Whitney this morning:

Hi There

As Ross said, there are issues on the networks. We have actually removed the uncapped accounts from being sold from our website and CCP because there definately are issues on the IS network. They have decided due to the speed issues they are doing an upgrade on their infrastructure which will double their capacity. They say it will take 4-6 weeks to get this done.
This is not only effecting Axxess, but all other ISP's that are offering these uncapped accounts through Internet Solutions.

An exact quote from IS regarding these accounts:
"The accounts are not limited on a per account basis.
The total bandwidth available to all of these accounts is limited. so the client will not get 4096kbps all day depending on the demand for bandwith.
They are not guaranteed 4096 kbps all day."

If you are getting between 100-200kb/s on your downloads, that is actually quite good in comparison to other people at the moment. The ma! in issue is these accounts are not designed for heavy downloading and because of abuse by the uncapped users, the contention ratio has increased dramatically.

I doubt there will be any refund possible as you have already used 61.2GB this month and the pro rata also will not be available as the service is an upto 4mb/s and if you are getting better speeds than a 512kb/s line(which is the account beneath the 4mb/s) then we cannot charge you for the lower speed account as you are getting within the possible range of the upto 4mb/s account.

If you are still not satisfied with the explantion from Technical Support, please contact our GM on [email protected] for a more official response.

Regards,
Whitney Harker

Edit:

In effect it's my problem and I'm lucky to be getting the speeds I am!

Further more it seems they're no longer selling the uncapped account.

Hey Friends

Our Gold network is currently running beautifully, however, there are a wide range of problems on the Telkom ADSL network today, which is causing some clients in the affected areas to experience slow speeds.

On behalf of Telkom (as if they will ever apologize) I apologize for the inconvenience.

I will keep this thread updated.

Kind regards
MrBEEP
