Is your account also shaped during the day?

Edit: I have noticed that after 5pm all traffic is unshaped, whilst being shaped during the day.

This is utter BS, why advertise a product as unshaped when it clearly isn't??

I'm on 384k Lite.
Still completely unshaped.

Yes, There is a clear fall of speed during the day, but with high business traffic levels, it is no surprise to me.
And no, its not shaping. I have checked.
If one thing is slower, everything else is slower too.

But shaping at this point seems non-existent on this Lite package.
At least until you fall into that top 20%.... which I still haven't, and to be honest, I am super surprised that I haven't yet...

Uhm, a significant dropping of speeds IS shaping.

Otherwise they should've advertised the product as an after-hours unshaped product and not a completely unshaped procuct.

No. If business capacity means that there's little capacity left for consumers it means that you will see a drop in speeds whether it's shaped or not. I think what you want is an uncontended unshaped service.

The slow speeds aren't caused by bandwidth contention.

I have seen the speeds drop and take off again like a switch being turned off and on.

Slow speeds on Sundays caused by bandwidth contention? I seriously doubt it.

This is shaping by a very sly bandwidth provider.

BTW, I am talking about IS, not OpenWeb

What account are you on?

On OW Gold and mine's perfectly fine?

OW Gold, fluctuating constantly

In fact:

Ping statistics for 80.91.249.71:
Packets: Sent = 25, Received = 24, Lost = 1 (4% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 541ms, Maximum = 806ms, Average = 676ms

Oh I see. Then I am mistaken.

What backbone are you on?

Maybe ask for a switch?

Well I've been flying the OW Gold banner since I switched from afrihost, but recently my account is absolutely junk.
Random time outs, dead slow surfing, youtube buffers like a snail, lag spikes from 300ms-3000ms in Wow.

Phone telkom line is perfect, only sync issues is when i reboot my router hoping and praying to the internet gods that it will work.

Worst of all is my sister has a 4meg gold account as well and since the weekend they can't connect , there telkom do account works like a charm.
Apparently to OW its a line issue that is preventing them to connect to OW. Strange thing is that they have had the account same time as me with no connection issues prior to the weekend. hmmmmm :(

I mail Mrbeep and all I get is "In all honesty, Gold is running like a charm today."
Yeah for some and maybe on your network, but this still does not resolve my and my sister's accounts issues.

Whats the point of paying extra for a line which is suppose to be "A-Grade" and currently its more like a F-grade to 2 users.

I am not going to argue this matter.
I have seen no SUDDEN DROPS or rises of any kind as you describe.

Shaping is to prioritize or deprioritize certain protocols, adresses, or ports on the network. Thus giving them better/worse speeds than the other more "acceptable" protocols.

When my NZB is slow... so are torrent... and so is gmail... and so is MyBB... and so is Youtube... and so is my antivirus updates... and so is my winamp streaming services... and so is everything else.

High traffic.
Some weekdays my speed starts falling as early as 6am; Some days it only starts falling around 11am.
Some nights I get maxspeed all night without that meter as much as twitching; Some nights she is up and down like a mechanic is revving your car trying to isolate a noise.

I know the differences, and I can confirm: What I have right here, is in no manner shaped.

I think what you might be thinking of is: THROTTLING.
And no, none of that here by me either.
I have on enough occasions reached max line speed downloads during the day. It spikes into max speed at least a few times per hour, but usually only lasts a minute or so.

I am on Gold and it is working well. I had an issue yesterday monring with latency, but a phone call to Telkom fixed it. My port had to be recreated or something like that. The moment they did that, it was full speed.

Problem is, people are quick to blame the ISP when the problem is on our side.

I see you are on the mweb backbone. That's probably the cause of your issues. Ask MrBeep for a switch.

Thanks MrBeep , just been put on the IS backbone as a test and it's like night and day.

And a solid 300ms in WoW, so much better to raid with than the 500-3000ms lag spikes.

What you are posting doesn't make sense.

First you say you haven't experienced any drop in speeds, then you say that you only reach your max line speed sometimes and that your connection is slow other times
