This is the 386 unshaped lite account. I have not - not been able to move more than 1,8gb since I signed up. What gives? Is the lite account shaped that badly? Or are all download hosts including newsgroups having a bad 2 days? yes... 1.8gb might seem a lot for a 386 line, but I have a lot of backlog because of Afrihost and their IS shaped to death deal. Surely not ?!?

Keep in mind that these accounts are composed of from the spare bits of IS bandwidth.

All those scrap pieces that all the IS business and premium subscribers don't consume.

You are basically awarded stars from 1-5.
If you use anything more than 2MB per day, which I'm sure is IS's average user's consumption, then you will lose stars and you will be heavily shaped during the day, and some other times as well when IS feels like it.
If you download too much, they WILL shape your connection into non-existance.
I'm talking 1-5KBps. That's your punishment for using the account, 'cause your not supposed to use it.

I will give credit to Keoma for always fixing these accounts for Openweb subscribers, something which Axxess will NEVER do, but it shouldn't be his job to fix IS's cr@ppy accounts.

Are there still OpenWeb network problems? I have a Gold account, reconnected serveral times and still most webpages timeout (including this one), youtube page loads, but no videos buffer? Everything going fine with my IS uncapped so its not my line
 
Likewise, I'm going to drop Keoma a email. Had similar issues late yesterday afternoon.
 
Definitely something wrong.

Some authentication problems on their side im guessing...

Strange thing is that I have ended up going back to my Afrihost account to download. Downloads from any popular download sites and NNTP are at a miserable 4-10 kbps on OW . Even worse than the past 2 days. (My AH account is still active until the end of the month). It's running @ 42kbps again. I get it. If you use an IS account, you get throttled and shaped to the point of not being able to use the account. If you don't use it, It becomes usable again. Guess I wasted money going to OW! This seems to be the norm on IS accounts. I have PM'd Mr. Beep. If he sorts something out, I will retract my statement with the greatest of pleasure.

Not on the IS backbone here. Experiencing authentication issues as well on router.

There is a Telkom MetroNode down in Midrand causing issues for 384k, 512k and R19 and R49 per GB ADSL account holders.

Woah, I also moved from Afrihost to OW, late last week, since my dl speeds on my 384 started failing. I'm experiencing the exact same situation as you described. I can play Starcraft with my OW account with a stable ping though. It's just the dls that fail.

Please let me know if you have any relevant/interesting info.
