Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Was playing on OpenWeb for a bit this weekend coming from Mweb's sub par uncapped service and all I can say about Openweb's Gold packages is that IT IS THE DOG's NUTS (very very cool!). I still have to suffer another payment to Mweb end of July but looking forward to getting back onto Openweb in 2 weeks and being able to use the net the way I want too and not by Mweb's draconian view of how and when it should be used.

I'm getting 3KB/sec on a Gold account from a direct download! Come on, its the fourth time in the last 2 weeks I'm being badly affected. That's not cool!!!

I am also in Pretoria and struggling. He put my on IS last week but I asked to be put back on VB...after I saw that IS shaped the crap out of Newsserver downloads.

Update: Speed is kicking ass again. :)

Just a quick question..

Whats the average speeds you guys get during the day on torrents on a 4mb line
and then at night say 9pm onwards whats the speed like?

And gaming wise, DotA ?

dota you can join any game, as peer with everyone and should work fine

Dota is not a peering game.. its hosted, so if the host has a 384kps line.. we the users connecting will feel the lag if he has any traffic on his line.. no matter if you a 4mb 10mb, 21mb w.e

Mweb i spike madly... and as a result i resorted to buying a local prepaid account.. do you think that helps me ? lol no.

so back to the question, what are the 4mb users experiences is speed with torrents, http dl and youtube ?

What he meant with hosted is if someone on SAIX(Telkom) hosts the game and you are on MWEB you lag because the connection will go internationally as Telkom does not want to agree to a peering agreement with MWEB.

IS though peers with both so you'll be fine.

^ i agree to that, but what im asking is, are people getting good quality gaming with this isp. as with mweb it changes on the day.

I have a 4mb line and gaming HON all most every night no problem, during the day I get some days that my pings are bad.

Just a question is something wrong in Farie Glen? Have 4mb line but can't get over 0.5mb on speedtest the past week. Telkom was here last week wensday to fix a guys telephone...might it be that they busted my line?

Check and see what you are synching at, telkom came and fixed someone's phone and did something with my cable which means i got plugged into a 384 line , what a nightmare, no work phone and 384 :(. At least i still have access i guess but wow 384 is horrific. They better give me a refund as well

yeah that is what i meant, dota should be fine on all isp's, i use to host on 512k with mweb .

though dota always feels laggy compare to dedicated server game like LOL.
