My 4MB Gold IS account I have at the moment is definitely shaped during business hours, I can't get more than 125kb/s on NNTP, where in the past on VB it went like a boss at 400kb/s plus. Then VB just started to degrade for me, downloads didn't run full speed anymore, streaming was even worse than 384k speeds.

Then I got moved to an IS account, I'm not too happy with my NNTP speeds overall, on weekends it does run 350-450kb/s which is fine, but I want to have that speed all the time. On the flip side, everything and I mean EVERYTHING streams like a boss on IS, where on VB it didn't always in the past. That's the one good thing about this IS account, I do love streaming lots, and it's really awesome, but latency wise for international gaming VB was better, which I miss.

Perhaps I should ask MrBeep for a trial VB account for 24 hours and see if I get better speeds now than I did about 3-4 weeks ago before I got moved to IS. If it's still the same, I'll persist with IS, at the expense of shaped speeds during business hours (which were nonexistent on my old VB account). :(

Then you will have to get an unshaped uncapped account. I think IS has one that goes for R1600, otherwise you will be paying minimum R2000 a month.

Sent MrBeep an email just now just for a test account on the VB backbone, just to check out the speeds again, hoping it's back to it's kick ass standards like I had before :)
 
you are not the only one, i am using VB 4m gold now since yesterday, it's crawling around 100k less in my 4mb line till now.
 
Oh, great. Still downloading at 6kb/s. They didn't lidt the shaping like they normally do.

One question on this, though, as I know I'm probably just going to get told 'that's standard uncapped for ya', but how does Mweb manage to shape their product without killing it like this one, and still sell it for the same price as the OpenWeb standard uncapped?

My connection is even struggling to load the pics on this site. :/

Um. They do. I was on MWEB till about two months ago. Ever since the first of May when they installed that new shaper everything has gone to ****. I guess you haven't been keeping track of the MWEB thread since 1st May have you?

But is it quite as bad as IS accounts? I've got two friends who are on 384 uncapped at Mweb, and they get pretty decent speeds all throughout the day, every day. Never experience what I experience, even though they also download a lot. They bitch and moan with me on a daily basis that I need to move over to Mweb, because I haven't been able to play games online with them for the last two weeks, because my latencies on OpenWeb are just downright atrocious, even at night.

384 Standard Uncapped

Anyone been able to get thru the support team?
 
I (very) recently purchased an Openweb 1024kbps gold uncapped PLUS account and the speeds were decent until a couple of days ago; getting 28kB/s throughout the day and night.

I am unsure about the cause but it fair use policy kicking in, since I only downloaded 20-30GBs at most.

Hopefully somebody can shed some light on this matter.
