Ahhh missed it :D, not sure hey i normally will give it a day to come right. As long as i can browse and check mail my hd porn can wait 24 hours :D

LOL Yuu, I still owe you that email, haven't forgotten about it yet. I'm really disappointed by my download rates tonight. Really hope this is something that will be resolved tomorrow.
 
well I havent done that much downloading this week but it seems I just can't get speeds above 160kb/s.

@Rohan, i was watching a few youtube videos now and it spiked momentarily at full speed. Not saying anything just yet but as soon as the techs resolve the issue, i expect to see everyone's speed to rise :D.


EDiT: Connection reset itself at 12am exact and speeds are now FULL 4MB :wtf:

Shaping kicked in just after 7am and getting 4KB/s :p.

Browsing seems fine.

What about you guys?
 
Same- hence the question... Can't comment on performance last night as I don't think anything was downloading, I added something this morning at 5am - and it flew at 400+ - but died at 7.

Its IS shaping - don't think there's much we can do about it...

I'll see how it goes over the weekend, and then maybe move back to VB - I'd prefer a constant medium speed than a slow during the day, fast late at night.

Not sure why Telkom is concentrating on adding faster packages when the current infrastructure can't handle it - imagine if everyone was upgraded to 10Mb/20MB... we'd be screwed :p
 
Haven't had an opportunity to test my speeds out today just yet, but going home now to check and see if I'm back up to full speed.

I'm running at about 350-370kb/s, more than acceptable for me, should pickup later on, but it's definitely quicker than it was last night. Yip I agree, Openweb Gold is awesome, pity that some people do get a hiccup every now and then, but I'm still happy this side. :)
 
Chatting to a colleague at work - he's also getting around 40-80KB/s on VB Gold... He's using another nntp provider - maybe its throttling or shaping based on host? :confused: I just hope it comes right soon.

How can it be shaping or throttling when me and stonecold are flying full speed?

What news server you guys using?

Neither support proper ssl over port 80.

You want ssl over port 80 or don't bother. Wanna give my news demon account a test? Got nothing to download this weekend and i am up to ears in porn so the break would be good haha or i can test your account and you test mine and we can compare notes on monday.

I also have nothing to download :p I'll pop you a PM if I find something...

I've cancelled my Astraweb account for the end of this month anyway... I'm really hoping the good old days return - else I'm probably just going to get a 100GB cap account... be more controlling over what I do :p
