After hours uncapped is excellent. After hours performance is amazing!

I was just about to ask for feedback on this account and if anyone is experiencing the same problems as the ones being reported on the Gold accounts... :p

ODD my news server has been hammering down at 350 the whole week, no need to reboot at all let alone everyday but perhaps you are on VB
Nah. Was on VB for +/- a year. Was brilliant. Then went to hell. Not Openweb side, had to do with Telkom. So have been on IS for the last few weeks. It's frustrating during the day.

If anyone here is on the non Gold acounts could you give some feedback as to your performance, office hours vs after hours.

After hours uncapped kicks like a mule!!! Although the last couple of months it has been throttled to anything between 60-100% of line speed.... but still.... Just about every protocol runs as it should... Helps when one has a 10mb line though... R899 per month...

Need some feedback guys, reset the router 10 times atleast but speeds are still 1MB and refuses to download higher :wtf:. Looks like i need to trouble Keoma :D

This account was super fast lastweek when I started, now its dragging... seems like an International problem this. Local is not too bad.. International is Shocking!

Hey Friends,

There are currently some problems affecting international traffic on some of the networks.

Engineers are attending.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Having a look at my logs... it looks like severe shaping. The connection was slow until exactly 12am last night, then it jumped to over 400KB/s - and maintained this speed till exactly 7am. Tonight seems to be following the same pattern - 30KB/s... and I'm assuming it'll jump to 400+ again at 12am.

Browsing is fast though - haven't tried video streaming...

Will monitor and decide how to move forward...

I've put my router on the timer, but it needs to charge before I can set it  odd tech.

Thanks Keoma for the email and feedback.

Hope they sort it out quick, so many precious GBs unutilised :D

Yesiree - this is exactly my experience too - I assume you are on 4MB Gold IS like me ?

During weekday business hours ie 7am to 5pm, I'm shaped into the ground for anything except Web browsing. At exactly 5pm weekdays, it opens up a LITTLE bit, but download speeds from file hosts is still only 10% of line speed. It is only at midnight that things start to happen, when I get full line speed until 6am. Between 6am and 7am it slows down slightly, and then at exactly 7am it dies again. This is obviously shaping at work.

I still am mystified how how some people here claim 24/7 full line speed on 4Mb OW Gold IS - I can only think they are on an unshaped account. I have been pondering a switch to VB, but I have read varying reports here.

All this resetting of routers I also find difficult to swallow - I get 24/7 rock solid 430KBytes/sec on my Telkom account day in day out without having to touch my router, so maybe there's something else I don't know ?

I been checking the other ISP feedback threads this evening - and I think there's a general problem on IS these past few weeks... I'll see how it goes over a couple of days and then maybe switch back to VB.

I'm on IS gold as well and experience something similar to the other IS gold users.During the day browsing is normal and streaming is somewhat ok.Downloading anything is a no go though , from 5pm things pick up.I get 50-120KBps on torrents from 6pm and it slowly picks up, after 8 it normally max out depending on how well the torrent is seeded.Live streaming works fine as well.

Sigh, I'm maxing out on 240kb/s on NNTP and streaming on Youtube is buffering

Hope those problems MrBeep mentioned are responsible for this :(

@killadoob you using a paid NS ?

Just curious as you seem to be well off with it, which one of the lot is the best. Do you use ssl ?

I tried Giganews, but found them to be quite "dead" as it crosses into rsa. Only other one I used waaaaay back was newshost (think that's what it's called)

Killa and myself are making use of paid news servers from Newsdemon. And we do we use SSL. I was pulling full line speed the whole day, up and till about a hour ago since these slow speeds started to creep in.

+100 to Newsdemon, used them for a couple of months until i had to cut off due to no uncapped.

This month trying Astraweb on 4MB IS Gold and was great lastnight until the problem tonight, all should be good.

I say go with ND if you want 50 connections :D otherwise Astra gives 20 but fussy at times (complains too many "booo").

Astraweb has a promo http://goo.gl/lT99 for $11 and NewsDemon has the famous "The Demon Deal" special at $9.99 http://goo.gl/cnSJK half price.

If you need help to setup, pm us :)

@Proph, you was talking about Newshosting...they still the popular guys but ND bites their head off nowadays haha...talk about being biased :p

9.99 for uncapped plus 30gb storage from ninja :D, ya as mentioned we use newsdemon with the ssl servers. I have run at full speed 24/7 this whole week. Infact since i signed up i would 95% of the time i have had full speed, the only time that dropped was the days i was on altech and IS. Since i got the VB account 95% easily, i do get the odd day that it goes slowly but when you have so much good a little bit of bad is easier to take :D.

I must thank mweb for finding newsdemon it got pasted their filter on ssl port 80 :D. Well up until the last 2 months when they just throttled my whole line :D just in case hahaha.
