Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Starting to get fed up with IS. Any other backbone I can run to for streaming, torrents and gaming. Getting 0.09Mbps on int http. Not worth +R700

Something's definitely wrong. My upload speed is 0.12MB/s faster than my download speed, which in itself is running at a 10th of the account's capacity.
Since I got this account on the 1st, Steam has been effectively useless in that I can't download from any of the local servers or international at a consistent, nevermind high, speed and I've been unable to stream HD video on Youtube effectively. I was able to download a good chunk with torrents over the weekend, but otherwise, this account has been somewhat disappointing and would be very limiting to me without my backup account. I don't think my usage habbits are unreasonable either and I'm not asking for full speed 24/7, but I'd like to be able to do what I want on the internet without being limited to sub-384k speeds.

I have a similar problem except at night youtube can stream HD without buffering but during office hours browsing the web (using http) is useless can barely view anything

Bank on IS for couple of hours along with my Astraweb account, speeds are sweet. Am super happy :p

Seems I spoke too soon, seems Openweb's idea of fixing my 4Mbps Gold account was to change it into a 10Mbps After Hours uncapped account, as can be evidenced by my speeds today:

A tracert to google also shows what you'd expect to see on these accounts (On a Gold account the second hop should be something from Telkom)
Code:
Tracing route to www.l.google.com [196.23.168.147]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms shana.diracsea [192.168.1.1]
  2 9 ms 9 ms 9 ms 196-210-149-129.dynamic.isadsl.co.za [196.210.14

  3 13 ms 13 ms 13 ms cdsl2-rba-vl2663.ip.isnet.net [196.38.73.25]
  4 13 ms 14 ms 14 ms cdsl2-rba-vl150.ip.isnet.net [196.38.73.9]

  6 13 ms 14 ms 13 ms csw5-pkl-tg2-7.ip.isnet.net [168.209.1.188]

Trace complete.

I suppose you could call it bargain since I'm getting a 10Mbps account for R161 cheaper than I should, but that doesn't change the fact that this isn't the product I wanted or am paying for.
Needless to say I'm more than slightly disgusted with Openweb at the moment. I emailed Keoma earlier but haven't heard anything yet.

This is not true.

I am trying my best to assist you. By making such accusations, you are derailing the core issue, your fault.

My new account is still behaving.... back as it was before August... hopefully it holds up.

strange, my second hop is doesn't show "something from Telkom" either.

Perhaps your logic is flawed?

International is very slow tonight....

I'm experiencing somewhat severe throttling. Speedtest right before 11:00PM showed 1.5MB/s maximum, very consistently. I just did another speedtest and I get 3.8MB/s now, 11:10PM-11:15PM. Again I say that I don't mind shaping of torrent protocols and such, which this isn't is as it seems a nightly thing that the taps get opened up around 11:00PM and thus falls under throttling, but I'm limited to these speeds on Youtube and such, which isn't acceptable in my opinion.
It's not my line either, as my TI account hits 7Mbps pretty easily.

Edit - Actually, I just hit 5.3Mbps on my Openweb Gold 4Mbps account, which is pretty weird in itself!

@Messugga, that is weird but enjoy as long as it goes on for :D

Am happy to say speeds have been consistent since yesterday and i actually got coupla gigs down and RDC was very stable. OW Support (Yes killadoob & others included) rocks. :)
