Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Any possibility to have a VB account during the week and an IS account over weekends? IS is useless during office hours (http after office hours as well) but good after hours and over weekends for usenet. VB is average to poor all the time. At least with VB you have usable internet during office hours, sometimes it is better during office hours than after office hours.

Currently on VB I am only going at 177KBps on my 4Mb line.

My gold account on IS has also been pretty crappy so far this weekend. Its starting to remind me of some woman I know. They look great, they wear the right clothes and have perfect bells and whistles but when you get them in the sack, they just not worth it.

lol....

After-hours and weekends the shaping is taken off so I know it's fine then (Steam is pretty much going at 400+kB/s). I just think it's stupid that Steam gets shaped when IS has their own ****ing Steam servers.

Okay, today is another very good example. I'm getting absolutely attrocious connection stability for both local and international connections on both the Mweb trial and our Openweb account, regardless of server location, regardless of protocol. Some connections are simply stalling (they don't lose connection, they just stop sending/receiving data, as though keepalive packets are still being sent/received, just no data....)

!@#4ing Telkom....

Altech this morning was a dream and from late morning it was a disaster, international is still rubbish.

now that I have actually something to download Im getting 50kb/s from NNTP on my 4m openweb gold. It's after 12am! Whats up with that? Just tested with my backup 1gb account and getting 400kb/s on it. Seriously bad speed tonight on openweb (IS backbone).

After 2 am things started speeding up a bit.

How was performance today everyone???

Myside, downloading whole night/day average about 2MB so acceptable. Month end too :p

Hope those having problems earlier perhaps sorted out ?

I must say this is the best weekend i have ever had since i started my I.S Openweb Gold promotional account.
Its like the shaping completely went away and i really had a solid downloading weekend.

Thanks Openweb.

My performance has been kick ass the whole weekend so far, no complaints from my side. Currently downloading at 430kb/s off NNTP with my VB account so I'm a happy camper :D

Yesterday evening I did have some trouble streaming some youtube videos, yet to test it again today, but will post some feedback later tonight :)

Actually youtube is very problematic for me i must admit but when i just pause it and let it buffer finished. I can't have all the cookies in the jar so the nntp and http is all the cookie i need, youtube streaming 100% would be good but i would rather have fast http and nntp than youtube streaming :D.

Well my speed problems disappeared yesterday. Was getting about 400kb/s on nntp. But when we tried some online gaming the latencies were again extremely high. Had to switch to my Axxess capped account and the problem was sorted. Someone mentioned that there might be some capped 100GB unshaped accounts at good prices soon on Openweb? Depending on the price I might be interested.

I feel that openweb customers should email openweb for a solution before they start ranting in this thread. Try fix your problem before complaining in the forums

No..some of us are just gatvol of complaining. Downloads maxing out at 33 kb/s with three things running. Cumulative download speed is 100kb/s. This weekend speeds went up to just over 200kb/s which was ok. Don't know what to do anymore. Port resets seem to work like a band-aid on a gunshot wound.

Serious? Eish what backbone you using? If it's IS you should move :D. What are your main uses for the line? Http with torrents or nntp?

Ja Killa I dunno hey. I'm on VB. Almost exclusively http downloads with browsing and streaming some vids. Thing is I'm not a heavy downloader at all (40-60gb), but I download enough to make getting a capped account unaffordable for the time being. I'm one of those users who is stuck in the middle somewhere. It's nice not having to worry about cap but at the same time if something pops up that i want to download and watch now I don't want to have to wait three hours for it :/

Wow that's odd because on vb this weekend i downloaded your entire monthly supply via http and nntp. I wonder why accounts vary so much?

What other backbones have you tried?

None hey. Have relied on Keoma pretty much to decide which backbone is the best and AFAIK VB is "the best" for what I do :/
I have no Idea why things are so up and down, wouldn't mind some stable good speed.
