No news on the IS problem? I guess Telkom has not fixed it yet?
 
Mine was flying along nicely this morning so things are sorted my side at least, it seems.

To be clear, that's a very inconsistent 1.4Mbps. It takes about a minute for most websites to even finish loading. Speedtest images take about 10 refreshes to even show up on MyBB.

At night time, everything's perfectly fine. During the day, IS remains ****ing pathetic.

xrapidx, I'm also on VB and my NNTP is flying at 420-460kb/s at this very moment *touch wood* :)

Yeah - chatted to another friend of mine on VB - and he's on a 1MB Gold account and getting full line speed.... his 1MB Gold account on VB is doing better than my 4MB Gold account on VB. I checked 5min ago and I'm getting 20KB/s. - it can't be my exchange as FNBConnect and Afrihost were fine this morning, I'll try again tonight and see if they still fine.

All I wanted was a 1GB file before 6pm today - and its got 9 hours left, added this morning at 5am.

Are you also making use of a paid news server or is it an HTTP download ? If it's NNTP, what settings do you use, perhaps we can help you out with that ?

Paid - Astraweb until tomorrow - then NewsDemon... also have that free one.

I keep thinking its my exchange, but then my FNBConnect/Afrihost should also give problems- maybe I must run them a bit longer and see how they perform.

Eventually I gave up the struggle and cancelled. :( Gold has lost it's shine.

I'm with Newsdemon, been pretty much full speed 95% of the time. Would be interesting to see what you get with port 80 and SSL.
 
Well I'm not on gold, but with my 1mb account my download is screaming along at 108 bytes/sec :confused:

Hope it's just the IS issue Mr Beep mentioned.
 
Got home - was getting 20KB/s (VB) - changed to Afrihost - 400KB/s - changed over to new VB account emailed to me - 400KB/s...

Very weird...I don't know where to look now - Telkom? VB? My router?

The 1GB file I've been waiting for the whole day had 250MB left - so it did 750MB - It'll now be done in 10min :D

Same here, the OW Gold accounts on the IS backbone is crap. I've been using VB last month and it wasn't much better but I at least got 2.2MB on my 4MB line. There was a time in the past when I could bank on getting full speed on VB and IS, not so anymore. This is frustrating :mad:

Instead of switching people every day, why not find out actually what is going wrong with your upstream provider. Because clearly there is a bottleneck on the network.
