My internet connection is being dropped every few seconds. Phoned Telkom, and I am told I have a strong connection, my line is synchronizing , and I was advised to contact my ISP..(Openweb) but as my email account fails to connect to the "mail.openweb.co.za" server, my email is not working either.

Is anyone else (openweb clients) having a problem with their connection being dropped every few minutes, at times as soon as it comes back on, it drops again after a few seconds?

This is so frustrating, been having problems since yesterdayt, then last night it was restored after numerous discussions with openweb support, and today the connection is there, but is dropped continuously, AND no email sending or receiving. At this rate, it may as well be chucked!!

The Openweb of today isn't the Openweb of 5 years ago. If you are having issues and they couldn't be bothered to help, it's best to look for an alternative.

I am currently with CrystalWeb: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/620123-Crystal-Web-(NEW-ISP)-ADSL-Feedback

They haven't launched yet but very happy with them so far :)

Thank you. Will look into it next week.

I created a gmail account and sent email to openweb regarding the problem, just after 10 this morning, tyhen another 2 hours later, I have yet to get a response .This is the most pathetic service ever!!!!. I am still waiting for a call back from support as they promised last night, and I just happen to discover late last night that my connection was back.. without getting the awaited feedback from them, and still don't know what caused yesterday's problem, and now today, again more problems, but can not get hold of them. I even had Telkom at my premises and no fault here, or at Telkom itself...connection everything within Telkom is 100% working.

This is so frustrating, honestly I HAVE to get another ISP ASAP!!! As it certainly does not look as if openweb cares a damn.

+ 1 here for Crystal Web as well. Great service thus far from honest people without any account sharing or Dr's involved.

keoma used to be good at replying. seems things have changed.

That is true.
But I think they've lost interest in MyBB.
Suffice to say, whenever I have issues, I e-mail and get replies fairly snappy so I'm pretty much okay.
I just use the 'free 1GB' accounts in place of my OpenWeb account when issues come up.

Just have a read through these threads:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/622747-The-truth-about-Openweb

I suggest its time you cancel this horrible ISP and move on like we all did.

Any suggestions?

If you use less than 100GB per month, I would strongly suggest Afrihost's 100GB package for R199. That's the one I'm with and I can't complain. Full speeds no matter the time or what I use the internet for. Most of the time I can stream 720p YouTube videos without buffering on a 2Mbps line.

What we used, usedto to be visible when logged into one's openweb account, but that is not allowed by openweb any longer.
And, I followed the links provided, and read the posts, and honestly, I would like to comment on that lot, but think it better if I do not do it on a public forum, for obvious reasons!! but I am shocked, and that is putting it mildly!! My family members who use openweb as their ISP have all agreed, they're also done with openweb now. I STILL have not had any response from support and 3 emails sent to them this morning. from a gmail account I created so I could report my problems..I still have no email..tried to send myself mail and get message "451 Rejected after DATA.could not verify "From" address. could not connect to mail.openweb.co.za
Apparently it is a server fault...not my fault, but openweb remains silent

I have tried numerous times today to get onto the openweb website..but it just does not open message comes back "problem loading page" that figures!

I can assure you, there is life after Openweb.

All ISPs drop the ball from time to time, but in my experience, OWs tech team are not the best, not by a long stretch.

OW did me well for a year or two, but the non existent daytime bandwidth, and constant new accounts to resolve issues drove me away.

In the meantime, grab a free account from AH or WA,
