I must have looked at that page a million times and kept missing the download....

Anyway, got the new down but when I try update the e3276 I get the error 'code 10: finding port failed'. See this one?

From the error message though, my guess is that you need to kick the modem into "modem mode" first, before the firmware updater can find it.

Thanks, tried most of the day following your 'modem mode' instructions but still this sucker does not act as a modem, even after sending the commands via Terminal - no connection. The connection software recognises the modem and the signal, but cannot open an internet connection.

Because of this the E3276 ROOter firmware cannot complete as it needs to switch the mode during installation to download software (at step 3).

Damn, thought this would work while following your instructions. Thanks for the walk through though.
 
After my missions to get this working, called tp-link to check and the v2 MR3240 now spurious this modem. A bargain at R600 and just plug and play....

There is something wrong with their wireless transmitter as speeds one there wireless are about half those when compared to being plugged in via Ethernet port. Not sure why.

Also modern downloads are slower when plugged into the router versus into the pc. This might be a power issue which I'll be testing with a powered usb hub later today.

Isn't Ethernet cable always better than WiFi?

Could be the problem where you need to enable bandwidth control (throttling) in order to get it to stop throttling:
Throughput problems? (modem is fast on PC but slow on router)

Probably, but I was seeing download speeds down at least 60% versus being connected via the ethernet port....

(Tried the bandwidth control setting as suggested but no noticeable impact)

So finally got the powered usb hub from HD Cabling in Cresta for R250. Totally solved both my problems above. The E3276 modem was definitely drawing too much power from my router, affecting the reception (download speed) as well as the router's wireless speed.

As soon as I plugged in the power the download speed jumped and the router's wireless started working as it should. Very Happy now... :)

Just in case this helps someone else... The following post on the Whirlpool forums worked for me: http://whrl.pl/RdTb1O

For me the main trick was installing the "E303HiLink11.010.06.02.910" update - I hovered nervously over the mouse button before clicking, as the version seems way below what you'd expect to find on the E3276 Hilink, and I was pretty worried I'd brick my modem.

...but it works - the update itself never really gets going to the download stage, but importantly it installs the drivers for the two "Huawei Mobile" devices that have no drivers in the Device Manager (under your com ports) when the firmware version 21.260.06.00.609 kicks it into modem mode.

I ran the 21.260.xxx update after the 11.010.xxx update and it sailed through.

Thank you for all the information on this thread. I have managed to successfully load ROOter Huntsman onto my MR3240 v2 and changed the E3276 HiLink to a normal modem. Unfortunately I am still unable to connect to the net with the E3276 plugged into the MR3240.
I find the amount of configurable fields in the Huntsman software bewildering to say the least. Is there no a "user manual" available for this software?

I did set the modem APN to "internet" and PPP protocol, but still no luck. I am not a IT Phd and blundering around in the dark here.

Tutorials here.

For E3276 modems, just enter your APN and then set 'Force Modem to PPP Protocol' to 'No'. Leave other modem connection fields blank or on defaults. You sometimes need to change 'Connection Delay' from 5 to 10 seconds.

What is your problem?

Thank you Geoff. I switched the PPP protocol to "No", left the connection delay at 5 and now the system is functioning.
