Opera 10 Final Released!

Opera 10 is working very fast on a e220 with MTN.[auto turbo enabled]
Also i have tested both firefox and opera by loading 3 mybroadband news pages, and opera wins loading 134kb verses firefox 627kb.
It will save me quite alot of bandwidth if this continues...

rofl:Dtial never seem to amaze me.
trying it out now..wow it even has a in line spell checker:D.FF will be on hold for a while:rolleyes:
Tell me does opera use more bandwidth as FF or do they use the same cause ppdb is a bit pricey :D
I think the caching of the pages is a bit much dont you think

I'll download it tomorrow at work. Opera's speed is second only to Chrome I feel, and it has lots of other plus points. Some few pages don't render right, but apart from that I really like the browser.

I don't use the Turbo function, it reminds me of the bad old days of Netscape Navigator and surfing on a 56K modem with 20 other people sharing the connection...

I have a liking for Opera. My main issues with it are:

1. The lack of being able to point where I want a profile to be created.
2. The download manager is nto up to scratch

I disagree about the built-in download manager, which does the job solidly and without fuss for those who can't be bothered with the intricacies of standalone managers like DAP.
No idea about FF, but running the new Opera 10 against IE8 leaves the Microsoft product biting the dust. Love the new makeover too, and the ability to have web pages displayed without images (apart from those cached) by default -- an absolute boon to those of us with slower connections and expensive data!
Not sure about the turbo option though -- anyone know if this is using up our bandwidth to cache pages in advance, or does it work a different way to that?

For the grand total of 4 seconds that I had it enabled, it seemed to be working like Opera Mobile - ie. grabbing stuff from an Opera proxy.

I find the download manager superior to the one that comes with firefox, it even downloads torrents.

i find my speeds on the Opera downloader manager to be slower than when using DTA on firefox.

So far 10 final has been good, I haven't seen anything major since the RC, so I imagine it was mostly tweaks and bug fixes. I like it a lot, though some pages don't render correctly. I hope this brings in some new users to the product.

I love Opera, and have used it for a few years now, but because a few google apps don't render correctly in Opera, I used Chrome most of the time :( Especially google calendar! :( Another annoying thing is with the previous opera release (not sure whether its been fixed), on facebook chat, when you receive a message the chat text input automatically loses focus. So if you are typing something and receive a message before you hit send, your keystrokes won't end up as characters in the text box, and will generally cause a load of short-cuts to be fired :(

Just to reference Aqua_lung's post, I used 2 Steps included in the last link above;
1: Tools > Quick preferences - Edit Site Preferences - Scripting (Set your JavaScript Folder, check Enable Use Javascript)
1.1 Add the aagmfunctions.js file in your set JAVASCRIPT Folder. (Grease Monkey Emulator for JavaScript in Opera)
Here is the code: http://pastebin.com/f7d8c6ca8 - save as aagmfunctions.js in your set Opera Javascript folder
2. Any GM scripts now added into your Javascript folder must just be named as file.user.js and you are A and away.

Opera is an excellent browser, Turbo is a bit finicky for me but does save bandwidth and page load speed as it runs on the global Opera proxy.

They added the preview tab function to the tabstrip if you drag it down so that it is big enough. Pretty sweet with a windows7 feel to it.

BTW the Widgets collection for Opera is growing nicely, all free to download. My own particular favourites (all of which work with Opera 10) are the BBC newsreader, touchthesky (world weather), a very quick Wikipedia reader, Google Translator and Universal Currency Converter. Your mileage may differ.
