Opera Mini 5 Beta ready for public testing

Amazing browser, works beautifully with the N97...
Hopefully, with the final release, Opera will have flash compatibility as well... Thats my only drawback at the moment...

Cheers
Don

Can a java application support Flash? You should use the Opera "Mobile" browser for Flash support.

On a side note - Pop Ups - I have activated the pop ups but it still keeps coming up with - activate pop ups on the site.
How do you get rid of speed dialed site?

EDIT:
Found the answer - using the might Google!

Good question seedat, never thought about it that way, lol
At the moment, the Mobile version of Opera ain't supported on the Nokia N97, or should I say, S60v5 edition phones... Bought the Mobile version, tried it out, didn't work with the the touch... Emailed Opera, told me it ain't supported yet... they gave me credit for buying it and I was told to download the mini version, so I have, and loving it :)

Cheers
Don

I'm finding the graphics and pictures quite blurry. I wonder if they've overcompressed them.
The bookmarks and things have not migrated from v4.2 either. Maybe if you have a touchscreen this version would be more impressive.

I'm back on Opera Mini 4.2 - the interface is cool and all, but I'm missing RSS reader and some other functions.

Will wait for the full release :)

If you miss your feeds just enter:

feed:list

in the url bar and save it as a bookmark and you have rss feeds again. You guys should remember this is just a beta. They don't want to ruin you Opera Sync bookmarks and feeds so they disabled it for now. It will return in the final version. Works awesome on my 5800!

Only gripe I have is that if I connect via wifi on a router with a local-only account, it doesn't load local pages (like MyBB).

The point of OM is that all traffic goes through Opera's overseas-based proxy servers to reduce bandwidth usage by some 90%. Local only browsing is therefore not possible in your situation; you'll have to stick to your phone's built in browser.

Thanks for the feed:list command!

Its great but too many bugs still to consider using all the the time. Its very irritating that if you are trying to type a message on a forum and make a type o, then press delete. Its starts deleting your whole message. Plus if you press 'enter' to create a gap between paragraphs then it deselects the whole text box.

It only starts deleting everything if you press and hold down the delete key for a few seconds. The carriage return (new line) is done by holding down the key that normally gives you a space (Motorola) or using a special character (Nokia).

Since it's a beta release they would appreciate feedback. Note also that there are different versions for each phone. Sometimes these apps use or interact quite closely with code on the phone itself.

OM5 is great but it stil has annoying issues like reloading the current page instead of openning a new link & its much more data hungry than om4...at the moment Bolt is does everything much better
