lol. no android. no linux.

also windows vista has the same amount as all versions of os x...

No Linux version was mentioned. Did Microsoft do this graph?

Maybe linux really is in the majority? That graph doesn't include server operating systems, BTW.

Apple really isn't that dominant, is it - I knew they were lying to me on the telly?

Very good graphical representation of certain OS environments

Thank you. The graph seems to be very informative although I would concur with the others asking for a more complete graph that shows all of the major OS's used worldwide as well as if used in a workstation environment or server environment.

Would be even more informative to see how many of each gets used in multi-boot setups compared to single boot OS setups. :)

Pretty sure the OS is called iOS, not iPhone.

Also, the graph is bullsht. Android is activating like a million phones a day or something wild like that...yet have +- the same installs as Vista...yeah right.

lol. no android. no linux.
Bottom left.

This must be based on Web browser User Agents, how is it possible to know who uses what OS.

I'm sure our suppliers does not report what they have sold neither does my company report what we use.
Who keeps track of downloaded OSs ect ect, The best people to tell you whats used is Google and Yahoo, and Bing.
and that will exclude internet based PCs

Code:
Mozilla/6.0 ([B]Windows NT 6.2[/B]; WOW64; rv:16.0.1) Gecko/20121011 Firefox/16.0.1
Firefox running on probably Win7
Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; [B]Ubuntu; Linux i686[/B]; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1
Firefox running on Ubuntu 32-bit.

They can get a lot of info from the UserAgent strings: http://www.useragentstring.com/
