No. Those who vote for certain parties, despite the fact that said parties have continually failed to live up to their promises and have systematically raided and pillaged the constituencies they are responsible for, are KFC hungry idiots. Voting on racial lines, as opposed to facts, is just another form of racism.

The vast majority of South Africans have now spent more of their lives under ANC rule than NP rule, at least anyone aged 42 or less, there is no reason to give blind loyalty to a corrupt, alleged rapist thief like #1

In African politics, there are no good guys or bad guys, no right or wrong, just winners and losers, the strong vs the weak. Black Africans understand this much more than white people. The masses recognize the ANC as the winners for the moment and thus continue to vote for them; those old tribal monarchy traditions die hard. When the ANC lose to someone else much stronger, then they will vote for them. It's the ancient tribal way.

That is your own world view. I vote ANC because my life is better under ANC than otherwise would have been the case. What is do difficult to understand about that? That is a fact. The people that voted along racial lines are those that kept the previous government in power.

ANC has been consistently making things worse and worse, just when you think it cannot get worse they keep out doing themselves.

Life is generally better for the majority of people in SA
(people do suffer personal tragedies, of course, but that's no different now to any other time in history)

8 years ago, it was maybe. Not anymore, I've never seen so much suffering, unemployment, people in the streets as now.
You guys live in an upmarket area or something?

Everywhere I look I see businesses that closed down due to too many break ins etc.

You are correct in that things have gone backwards from were they were 10 years ago.

The thing is people are still comparing "modern" South Africa to the South Africa of the 1960s

Population was way less back then, farms were far apart, but also had enough neighboring farms to not feel completely and utterly secluded like now. Life just feels more meaningful to some when your just not another number completely surrounded by a beehive of people.

What would you choose, overcrowded beach or one more exclusive one with a lot fewer people and more space.

That's the problem with post-apartheid, your expected to be part of some kind of hive-mind, sacrifice all your personal space.
