[Opinion] Gunning for Eskom? Fracking could solve your problem

Besides - we have massive deposits of more accessible natural gas off our coasts.
The Ibhubesi gas field is virtually untapped. By 2018 it will be connected to Ankerlig by a undersea pipeline and allow the plant to run 5 of its 9 turbines in a closed cycle, 15 hours a day, for almost half the cost of diesel.

Why the frack do we want to mess about with shale gas if there are cheaper options out there that fit into existing infrastructure?

Bribes & kickbacks of course..

Thank goodness the saudis are killing of the shale producers with their cheap oil.

I dont want earthquakes or contaminated ground water thanks.

If energy companies find sufficient gas deep below the Karoo, and begin to produce it in five or ten years, South Africa’s economy could change dramatically too.

Firstly, in 5 or 10 years SA won't have an economy left to speak of thank to Ek's Dom's incompetence.

Secondly, why go with fracking when there is another source of power that is cheaper and far less polluting, namely nuclear? It takes about 5 - 10 years to construct a nuclear power plant, which is a much more worthwhile investment. Employment figures won't be as high, but in an energy crisis, that should be the last concern on anyone's mind. Let's not forget that the majority of people who would be employed by fracking are the same majority that (a) voted this useless government into power in the first place (b) believe they should get electricity for free.

Just like banning Marmite in Denmark.

That stuff is f'n VILE, I totally support the Danes' measure.

hahaha

Yeah we really need people like OPEC calling the calling the shots.

Well its more the Saudis, OPEC countries are being screwed as well. IE, Russia and Iran. The Saudis are protecting their market share.

Guys, guys just think of the cool party tricks:

Ivo Vegter said:
I'm following the temperature record adjustment story closely. I've long believed adjustments to the raw instrument data were intended to favour the warming theory, rather than correcting for real changes in the circumstances of the instruments.

Welp that pretty much shows Vegter up as another one of the "man-made climate change doesn't exist" cretins. Must be one of Arthur's mates.

tl;dr don't trust anything Vegter writes.
