Besides - we have massive deposits of more accessible natural gas off our coasts.
The Ibhubesi gas field is virtually untapped. By 2018 it will be connected to Ankerlig by a undersea pipeline and allow the plant to run 5 of its 9 turbines in a closed cycle, 15 hours a day, for almost half the cost of diesel.
Why the frack do we want to mess about with shale gas if there are cheaper options out there that fit into existing infrastructure?
