[Opinion] SONA 2019 Thread

"Government will support Eskom's balance sheet and the finance minister will provide further details of this in the budget speech in a few days," Ramaphosa said. "It is an imperative to embark on this path without burdening the fiscus with unmanageable debt," he added.

Lol :)

"To bring credibility to the turnaround and to position South Africa’s power sector for the future, we shall immediately embark on a process of establishing three separate entities – Generation, Transmission and Distribution – under Eskom Holdings," Ramaphosa explained.

This will isolate costs to each individual entity and will enable Eskom to raise funding easily from the market, he said.

So, nothing will change at Eskom. Only twisting words to (try and) fool the world.

#SONA2019 The National Health Initiative Bill be tabled before Parliament soon. It is the intention that those who can afford health care services will cross-subsidise those who can't afford.

That's already happening lier.

President Cyril Ramaphosa says state-owned "land parcels" have been identified for the purpose of expropriation without compensation.

What a stupid bunch of clowns.... why the f**k do you want to go through the legal processes to expropriate your own goddamned land? Why not just give it to the people? Do the ANC really think the world is this stupid?

Calm down dude. Breathe and turn off the TV.

TV is not on. Just saw this posted on a US-based investor community laughing at this comment.

I think this SONA is showing just a lot more policy uncertainty. Perhaps they should cut it short and get everyone home so that they can focus on the upcoming elections.
