Hi V3G,
Just gone through your excellent FAQ again and in keeping with the request to "post sooner rather than later" here is a summary of what trouble I am having at the moment. Hopefully this thread will also include the resolution at the end of the day.
I have also noticed other forumites appear to have the same issue (if it has been resolved and I have missed it - apologies!)
I have an option card and I have upgraded to the latest firmware. I am NOT using the dash software (used it to set up the connections and now leave it off).
PROBLEMS:
1) connections do not disconnect. Have to do a hard reboot (or a VERY slow soft restart ... eg 15minutes). This is an issue because you cannot try disconnecting and reconnecting to improve speeds. (NOTE: This seems to have got worse over time. After I did the SIM swap to the 64k, this was much better - Friday last week. Since then it has deteriorated to not doing it at all. This puzzles me ... what could change over time ??
)
2) sending large emails is an issue ... last night my total upload was over 17MB trying to send a 3MB email. With the new firmware managed to ZIP and split and send 4 150kB emails. (This may not be a card issue, perhaps smtp is ailing at the moment, but I don't know if this is new because I haven't needed to send large mail before.)
CONFIG:
Win XP Pro SP2, using Outlook XP for mail. Acer Travelmate 2.66GHz, 512MB
GPRS ONLY - I have no 3G out here
I have contacted 155 (2 days ago) and they have logged the fault. To date they are blaming intermittent GPRS issues for the mail. I have not logged the disconnect issue yet - will do so now.
Thanks in advance.
