Ordering off Aliexpress? Advice?

so I got an SMS that my parcel is at my local post office - Great! took 40 days though

40 days? Means it was the express service. You were lucky, honestly, it got to you so quickly.

Is Aliexpress courier delivery still overcharging for customs and clearance? I haven't been ordering from them because of this.

collected my parcel, but as could be expected, the parcel was not numbered correctly by the post office and they wanted to hand me another persons parcel - they had to search the whole storage area to finally find my parcel - SAPO!!!

Its 50/50
For me these days, it's probably 95/5.

I ordered numerous items, which came via courier, with customs fees consistently around 20% (This is quite high if the item value is low, but anyway).

Weirdly, my DJI battery that I ordered was sent via SAPO and never arrived. It took me a month to get a refund.

I am also well aware that I previously said the customs and duties feed did not bother me that much as it was still affordable for the time it takes to arrive.

The latest order has made me reconsider ordering from AliExpress ever again until they adopt the same billing method as Temu where the fees are included in the price.

A R505 customs fee for a R880 product is just crazy, and at that stage you might as well just pay it.
