Hey guys,

We went on a class (photography students) excursion on wednesday and one of the places we went to was Orms.

One of the girls in my class had a few items she wanted to check for prices and availability. She told me that the salesman she spoke to was very rude to her. When she inquired about the Sony Pearstone FSA-SM Hotshoe Adaptor the salesman said they do not have it, they have to import it, it costs R1600 and that it is NOT on their website. Whens he said that it IS on their website for R450 he simply told her she must "get over it and drop it".

Has anyone else had bad customer service from Orms?

What happened to "the customer is always right"? The least he could have done was check on the website to make sure and been a little more polite?:confused:

Geez. That's the first I've ever heard of such bad service from them. Never experienced this myself. I've always had really good service from the guys over there. That kind of behaviour is very unacceptable. Did she speak to the manager about this?

No I don't think she did. I suppose generally when you receive such bad service from a salesperson you can't really be bothered with even supporting the company further so she left.

But surely one can't label the entire company for one man's misdemeanor? I'm pretty sure the rest of the guys are all good. I would suggest she speaks to the manager anyway. We wouldn't want this to happen to other customers.

Ive never experienced that, ORMS is probably the second most friendliest camera guys around.
I won't believe that, and I can say that with surety, because Im not a fan/supporter of Orms, but don't tell me their service sucks :)

I've been to Orms a few times. The guys are well educated, patient & know the products (better than I do anyway).

I also know what it's like working in retail and getting "time-wasting" students asking a million questions but not buying anything, which disrupts business for other customers. It's good for the students to go tour and do projects but not always good for businesses.

But, if the guy was really so rude, she should have reported it to the manager, even go now. If he's a bad seed, he must be discplined!

Lastly, he (the salesperson) could have adopted the approach of entertaining all these students and left sales for the other guys. Focused on them in a group, gained their respect in appreciation because although they are time wasters now, they won't be later on... That would be my approach :)

Agreed.

I bought my SONY camera there a couple of years ago.
It was R2999 on their website, the guy at the shop told me, it was R3499.

He checked the site and gave it to me for R2999.
So can't complain.

In the past I've bought stuff from ORMS and they were courteous in their dealings. There service isn't the greatest as they never seem to call back for items not in stock, but they have never once been rude and when talking to them they have always offered good advice. I've been there till they closed the doors and they have been patient in helping me.

I would re-itterate what others have mentioned. Bring this up with the manager. A manager needs to know how his/her staff is behaving as it has an impact on th business.

I was called out of the blue for an order I tried to make on out of stock items, 2 months later when it finally came in.
I gave them a thumbs up for that.

Orms = Good Service

Hi

I have only good things to say about them, the prices that I have paid on Sony stuff was very competitive(actually i think they had made a mistake as I cant/could not even import the item for the 3/4 of the price I paid, when they realised it they still honoured the price on their website).

They were knowledgeable, had stock, dispatched fast, packaged well, kept promises -- what is not to like.

Generally they are good. Sorry you had a bad experience.
