Seems to only happen when I close the lid to put it to sleep. The rest of the time when it sleeps by itself it's fine.

FUUUUCK this is so frustrating. My screen doesn't even come on. This is the third time now since I've started paying attention.

I have to hold the power button down.

Just going to re-install everything.
Tried most fixes but no such luck.

A nice clean start will do wonders i think anyway.

I find doing a clean dvd format/partition and install fixes most issues. There are a lot of new things in Yosemite that wasn't ever an issue before. If you have an old system you will run into unforeseens with Yosemite, much like ios8 causes all sorts of gremlins

I have the developer build on usb, so guess I need to download the app store version of yosemite, then create bootable usb before it removes it.

I registered as an app developer. Anyone know what the turnaround time is?

the app store installs the installer to your applications, and then creates an install folder on your current booted partition which will start when you boot again. You can then install elsewhere. I have a third party boot loader (refit) which gives me the option to either boot into the installer, or just boot normally bypassing the install folder. Don't know if you have this option. If you don't want to keep developer build you can just boot into install after running the MAS install and choose your usb disk as destination.

I registered as an app developer. Anyone know what the turnaround time is?

it takes two days to get approved, after which you can still pull out. Or did you submit an app?

It is to be able to submit an app. The $99/year subscription. Mine is taking a week already. Stating Pending as a status

Yes I have heard submitting an app can take ages. There is a faq on coronalabs.com to why your app may not be approved. This may include not having the latest Xcode and latest sdk, creating something insidious or otherwise replicating App Store features, or violating ad regulations.

Started download of Yosemite from app store. left it overnight.

When i get to work this morning laptop was frozen, did restart now im getting the stop sign.

Tried to boot into safe mode same thing.

Tried to recover from TimeMachine CMD + R , all that appears is some internet recovery option?

Newer Macs include the ability to start up directly from an Internet-based version OS X Recovery. Your Mac automatically uses this feature when the Recovery System on the startup drive isn't available. For example, if your startup drive encounters an issue, or if your startup drive has been replaced or erased. Internet Recovery lets you start your Mac directly from Apple's servers. Starting up from this system performs a quick test of your memory and hard drive to check for hardware issues.

Assuming my "fusion drive" setup didnt make a recovery partition.

Anyway its doing some internet recovery thing at the moment, hopefully brings up Disk Utility and recovery options.

Doubt it. If it completed downloading OS X 10.10, your screen would show the setup assistant.

Had to revert back to Mavericks, luckily kept the bootable usb.
Then downloaded Yosemite at just under 6GB.
Created bootable flash drive and installed Yosemite , back up and running.

Hi Everyone,

So my manager decided to do the jump from Mavericks to Yosemite 10.10.1. It went well on his macbook pro 2013 ed. Ran for about 6 weeks until this morning when he called me in. The machine boots up , but directly after you log in , give or take 5-30 seconds , the notebook completely freezes. Like a total lockup. mouse cursor and keyboard totally non responsive.

You can leave it for hours - nothing happens.

I have done a cold boot - no diff.
i have checked the ssd for errors - all ok
i cannot do a time restore - looks like he didn't use it.
i disabled bluetooth , wifi and lan - no diff.
i changed the audio output devices - no diff.
i have disabled all the startup apps - no diff.
i have run the pre boot - D diagnostic - no errors.

There is sufficient disk space and safe mode can boot & "work" without lockup.
There is no diff in behavior if cold boot vs regular boot.

Is this a dud ssd or what can i do? Apple wants to RMA but i need to explore all options first?
