I can see the US thinking this is some big accomplishment, but I don't expect it to have much real impact.

Completely back to front. If you want to claim a particular organisation was behind an attack it is up to you to prove it.

You might have to be concerned if you were travelling in country the US was using as a place to show off their military. Essentially what you're saying is it is fine because their terrorism targets other people and places. And yes America does target our freedoms when they don't fall in line with what they want. They'd torture and murder you in a heartbeat if it would further their ends.
 
Even if this is true, I doubt the death of one man will bring down an organisation.

It is merely symbolic of what the US would like to see as some victory. It does not bring back the victims of 9/11.

The US hyped up this man wayyyy too much, IMO.

Listened to Obama's announcement this morning. They have been tracking him since August last year, waiting for the right moment. According to some news agencies, after photographing the body and taking DNA samples, they dumped his body into the sea. Shark food. Fitting. First Gaddafi's on, now Bin Ladin. And a royal wedding in between. A great weekend.
 
news says it all, no one else hasn't been able to prove wrong what they have been saying for the last decade. So since that information is accepted by the public and not been disputed as of yet, do you have some information that can prove otherwise?

LOL, and guess what, i agree with this. For to long the US has followed the Geneva Convention when the "enemy" blatantly ignores it. ***** those, if you want to bring a knife to a gun fight, then so be it. But do yourself a favor, if you are so concerned about the US taking away your freedoms, please stop supporting the US by watching our television shows, listen to our music, wearing our clothing labels....it's not that hard, you can wear some robes all day and chant to yourself to keep yourself entertained :)

Killing Bin Laden will achieve little in stopping the work of these organisations as the network is very decentralised and the heads grow back immediately ... and the really dangerous people aren't the well publishised ones anyway. The US knows this. The message is what it is all about and the message is vital: "We WILL find you, and we won't stop until we do!" That is what this is about.

Its a very symbolic kill. Osama was always the one that "got away". Now he is dead. Its fantastic news.

I do not understand why his body was buried at sea ... ??? You look for someone for more than 10 years, find him, kill him and then dump his body??? Hard to believe.

Obama was well on his way to winning the next elections with or without this. Claiming this is the reason for him winning the next elections is juvenile and completely ignores the facts presented by reality.
 
Are people so naive to think that this will change anything? If he's been so deep 'underground' for so long then obviously he hasn't been actively leading; someone will take over by the end of the day, in fact they probably already did years ago. Death means nothing to these people - if it meant defeat there'd be no suicide bombers. He's just become a matyr now.

Maybe they didn't want to risk someone going looking for his 'grave'? It's strange but Obama would not announce this unless he had irrefutable evidence that it was Laden they got.
