Oscar Pistorius: The Sentence

I think Masipa's palm must have been nicely greased for a lenient sentence

No, the SAPS and NPA officials who were on the scene of the crime should be disciplined.

Well the station commander was basically booted and I know most of the remaining SAPS in that station as well including some of the detectives and they basically all light weights.

I don't think they ever considered how big this was going to get and that is no excuse. Any crime should be treated with the best ability possible and all actions also to the best of their ability.

The problem is SAPS's ability sucks and their first respondents (whom I know) to the scene were the ones that started the screw up and it continued from there right up to NPA and even Nel (although Nel only works on the info provided)

The SAPS even put the case at risk in selling photos of the crime scene I mean WTF.

I the good old days we had some of the best detectives in the world but that is self explanatory

i am so sick of this case.
reeva reeva reeva, reeva this, reeva that, reeva everything.

from the very outset people lost sight of the fact that pistorius murdered someone behind that door - does not matter what the person's name was, he intentionally shot, and kept on shooting through a closed door into a tiny enclosed space.

and then the reeva campaign started. endless tv interviews, bit of film - anything that had steenkamp's face in it - steenkamp, who's only claim to fame was being murdered by a famous sportsman.

meanwhile across the country at the very same time, another young woman was also killed.
she was raped, carved up, disemboweled with her intestines left outside her body and left to die on a building site - her name was anene booysen.
her case hardly got a side mention while endless interviews were being held with steenkamp's parents, so much so, that many people even know thier 1st names. then it became about steenkamp's parents, their misery and financial loss, but mother steenkamp was quick to seize an opportunity to cash in a write a book.
instead of using the tragic murder of their daughter to champion the cause of countless woman who are beaten, raped and murdered on a daily basis in this country, the steenkamp's instead chose to turn thier daughter into a media whore and make everything about themselves.
as for the sniveling prat of an athlete who "screams like a woman", **** him and the horse he rode into town on.

You blame the parents, you should be blaming the media and the people that gobble up the media... You should blame yourself.

Oscar Pistorius sentence: Masipa’s homage to exceptionalism and privilege

High Court Judge Thokozile Masipa delivered a much-needed reality check on the continued triumph of exceptionalism and white privilege in our society. The laughable six-year sentence she handed down to convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius was a reminder of how inequality penetrates and impairs every aspect of our lives. Why should the showcase trial of South Africa’s former Olympic star be any different? Judge Masipa validated his bull**** version of events and his feigned remorse and told us that the “fallen hero” shouldn’t suffer because of our “unjustified outrage” at Reeva Steenkamp’s murder. So thank you My Lady for that “zombie stopper” shot in the head. By RANJENI MUNUSAMY.

Reckon the NPA will appeal. The SCA was pretty scathing in their assessment of Masipa once, I think they'll be willing to overturn her again.

I don't quite understand the logic.

You tell the very same judge who did not feel he's guilty of murder to re-sentence him?

This, you can argue that the judge made a mistake but asking her to sentence based on a verdict she doesn't believe in...

What *** reporting is that?

She is hospitalized but stable; she succumbed to abdomen burns and suffocation. This is tragedy; we all believe that it has something to do with the Pistorius case. As a family we have the Good Samaritan to thank, who was quick enough to pull her out of the car, she could have been burnt to death, said a family member.
