Our Improvements.

What Do I Get If The Speed Is Back Tom.????

A lot of happier customers, certainly.

But you would have had much more understanding and patient customers if there had been some official explanation of the problem, and what the intended solution is.

It may be a cliche, but in business, honesty is the best policy.

Shaun, my speeds have been fair up to yesterday, not very nice today, even at night. (20 - 30k down at 100% signal)
I'm more concerned about unstable IRC and MSN, however.
Plz reply to my concern.

Shaun,

You've got to give us our speed back - and unfortunately you've got no choice!

You don't want iBurst to be dubbed 'Sentech 2', because that will scare away potential customers (and perhaps existing customers) and give WBS a crap name.

WBS owe us the advertised speeds, because that is what we are paying for..

Lets hope

I'm not working from home tomorrow so I will only be able to check on Friday but I definitely hope that the port shaping will be sorted out so that I can reliably connect through SSH and SSL (I use both services extensively because of security reasons) My overall experience of iBurst has been positive so far. Moving from a very bad telephone line (on a smallholding) that used to disconnect me at least 6 times before downloading my email and really bad copper quality (more than 7 km above ground) to a “wireless” connection (can’t get ADSL or telephone where I am now) that gives me bandwidth that not even my employer can give me (in my office) is really great.

Thanks that you guys are trying to sort everything out. I know the pressure :cool:

Fellow forumites: just an observation here, if I understand correctly, Shaun has asked you to comment on whether or not you notice an improvement in the service throughout the night and into the morning.

If you wake up in the am & the slow-down problem has dematerialised, then let Shaun know by posting in this thread.

[please correct my perception of this thread's topic if I am wrong, otherwise bottle the crits up for the morning, but give the man some feedback if it has actually resolved the slow-down problem]

spot on ic! my speeds tonight are still great I think... hold on:

edit: international is all over the place actually just got a 72KB/s

before I got:
international 108.16 Kbps
(13.52 KBps)

local
* Download time: 5.766 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 707.6 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 86.7 (kiloBytes/second)

11:30pm

Well I have to be honest , I use it at night, and it great for local and ok for international but for R 599 per month, I think its fair.

I must say I had my ups and downs with iBurst, but hell guys give iBurst some breathing space to sort out the problem. It's no the end of the world if you have a few hours of bad speed. Tomorrow is another day and who knows, it might be better. There must be space for trial and error. At the end of the day it will work.

Hold onto your jock straps or you might loose it.

Shaun so-far I had good service from the helpdesk and if they can't give me any answers, they normally give me the number of the person to contact to give me an answer.

All I can say - There is a light in the end of the tunnel - as long as it is not an oncoming train.

Give iBurst the chance to sort out the problem "What ever it might be" we will all benefit afterwards.

I kow it is fustrating but hang-on, it will come to an end.

Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:

Download time: 6.169 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 661.4 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 81.1 (kiloBytes/second)

I must say it is blistering tonight.

Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:

* Download time: 2.953 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 1381.6 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 169.3 (kiloBytes/second)

BicPen, you can do the test here:

http://www.telkom.co.za/portal/page...aramURL=/pls/portal/docs/page/dsl/speed.shtml

or you can go to the MyADSL homepage and select speedtest.

Apologies for drifting o/t here, but that's actually an excellent idea, and if the Helpdesk are referring customers on to the people that are high up enough in the corporate tree, that are suppressing the truth, then I say they need to take a thousand or so calls from angry customers per day - payback is a <5_letter_word/>. So, when you next call the Helpdesk, and they are unable to give you an answer, I suggest that you demand Sasan's cell phone number, pager, email address, and then hammer him for an answer!!!

PS: Make sure you post Sasan's answer on the forum (preferably 1 thread) so we can see what stories people are being told ;).

your line speed is approximately 1342.5 Kbps or 164.5 kBytes/sec
Now this is what I am talking about. Its only rescently that I have been able to access telskums page today! I have been trying most of the evening but it has been timing out. So this is good news lets hope this is maintained. I still am having the issues with msn and irc but they seem to have started to behave a bit more!

thank you Shaun

Now that is similar to what I've been getting during office hours. Then at 6.30pm suddenly the floodgates open. And I'm not capped.... yet.
