Do you think that all whites supported apartheid and the old flag...?

Once again.

I'm not talking about apartheid.

Maybe I must post in bold

I'm talking about war here... Not apartheid

If USA is to invade SA now... **** I'll let them have it
Back in the 80's 90's everyone would have protected this country

Must I bold it for you ?

In which year are we now ?

Where do you live now ?

If still in the Township it's your own fault ... Once again.

edit: btw. That building your sitting in now.... the road u travel to work every day... that is what he was referring to.
Those are the areas we needed dompases to go to...the rest wasn't tarred :D

100% of the White people under the old flag would at that stage in history leave their loved 1's @ home to go and defend their country and their flag.

100%? Speak for yourself. White males were obliged, by law and threat of imprisonment, to serve in the military, "defending the country" from its own people, or from imaginary threats.

Under that flag I was able to ride my bike in the street, as a 7 year old child.

You may have been able to. Many others not only were not safe enough to, they were not even in a position to own bicycles.

K@K ... My bicycle was stolen 3 times :D

once by a white laaitjie :o

No flag means a damned thing to me. ... I love this country, but it is not mine. It has disowned me. Why then should a flag matter? Perhaps some find it comforting to look at the old flag and remember the days when they belonged. Not me. I have no flag. I have no country, and nowhere to belong. For all the talk of reconciliation, this country's policies have turned to nothing more or less than exclusion. Old grudges live, yes. On both sides. But what are the people like me supposed to do, belonging to neither?

Well said Leitmotif. I do believe however that the Afrikaner youth is rediscovering their roots as Afrikaners. I'm an Afrikaner (some prefer to call it Boer) and I'm not ashamed of it - no matter what happened between 1945 and 1994. I'm not right-wing in the traditional Afrikaner sense - and I would never allow myself to be hijacked by racists claiming to be the only true representatives of the Afrikaner roots. For long have I neglected my roots - but it's rising inside of me again - and in many around me. This may never again overflow into racism, discrimination and hatred as that would be wrong - but to deny and cut off our roots because of the bad done by some before us would also be wrong.

Ok let me ask you guys a question and answer it truth fully

100% of the White people under the old flag would at that stage in history leave their loved 1's @ home to go and defend their country and their flag.

Any 1 here that is pre-paired to it today for our new country and the new flag ?

As a 43 year old male, who spent 4 years in uniform under the old flag, for what i was taught to believe, (the threat of global communism), not black on white and racial issues,(although the cold war did end) I can say that Yes, i would do the same under this flag, if the threat was real enough to warrant it.
I served with men and women of Black, Coloured and Indian descent, English and Afrikaans descent, and there was no question of racial cr@p, in fact if there was it was delt with quickly and abruptly, because it broke down the moral of those serving. We ate together, bunked together, worked together and k@kked off together.
"Jou maaitjie" was with you in it together, irrespective of background, colour or education.
And we served with pride. Something many of you have no idea about , and something many of you will never understand because thankfully for you and IMO unfortunately for you, military service is no longer compulsory.
For some of you the old flag may represent negative things or memories, but for many the old flag represented a bond of a new country, of independence from the rest of the world, of sanction busting and a time when S.A. showed the rest of the world the finger, and went it alone.
It may be a symbol of the old Apartheid regime to some, but it is and always will remain part of our history, in many ways a dark part, and in some ways a strong part.
Banning it and burning it will not change a thing , and will only create resentment and prejudice in a country that has seen enough of that already.

What does where I live have anything to do with it? I was referring to his implication that Black people benefited from infratructure development. And yes where I work does have better infrastructure, but that was becuase it was a whites only area. I hope you really are not going to try and argue this point, coz most people will acknowladge that infrastructure development was not exactly evenly distributed.

A war under apartheid SA would have been against apartheid as it was the government of the day!!!!! Now don't shift the goal posts Pitbull. Any one fighting for the apartheid government would have been in support of it. What else would they be fighting for...?
I'll ask again. Did your statement imply that all whites were in support of Apartheid?

That flag is a bad bad symbol and should be banned. Those who yearn for the good old day's of priviledge should raise it at the remotest of farms in the company of Roodt and Terreblanche.

Not everyone who waves the old flag is a racist just remember the black guy waving the flag at twickenham. Not very likely that he hates black people :p

The flag is also part of the afrikaans history...And not all afrikaans people were racist during the apartheid days.

I have respect for the flag but I would never paint it on my face or wear an old flag shirt. Its just too conservative looking and the new flag is one of the best looking flags in the world :D

Even if his statement did imply that, what makes you think he speaks for all whites in SA?

In case you did not notice, I was trying to get him to abandon such a line of thought since there were many whites who got jailed, exiled for fighting against apartheid..
But knowing Pitbul, I doubt that's gonna happen any time soon...:D

What is an Afrikaner? Ill answer but I might offend you, so in your views, what is an Afrikaner.

Wrong. Your government only did wrong for my people. Period.

Thinking of moving to Zim, Angola, Congo, Kenia,.... any other Africa country where their governments improved everything for their citizens.

I can only but laugh at your statement.

Stop whinging. Just the rich blacks are growing richer. Nobody else. Count your blessings and carry on with this gorgeous life you have in this country.

Who should we thank?

I take my hat of to you my friend. ;)

I wouldn't, I'll defend my home but not this country

Can you formulate your view without being offensive?

So many have tried to define it this way or that trying to make it more or less inclusive and tolerating (political correct). Maybe the use of the word "Boer" makes things clearer - to differentiate what I mean from the more politically correct meanings of Afrikaner. And you know what is meant by "Boer". And it would be wrong to interpret "Boer" as a racist statement. It is what it is.
