Pc Zone's tardy service is infamous, with the complaints on this forum being no exception.

While I personally haven't experienced anything worse than the snobby attitude of their Pinetown staff in the 8 years I have been buying from them, it was encouraging to see the Greg, the GM of PC Zone posting on this forum and promising good service in future.
He went so far as to post his email address, so that he could directly address any concerns.
This was on the 22nd of September.

I didn't think I would ever need to contact him and definitely didn't expect it to be so soon.

Here is an email I sent him on Tuesday:
Hi Greg,

I am following your posts on MyBB and would like to request your help on an issue:

I went to the PC Zone Musgrave store for the sale on Friday and wanted to purchase the i5 Desktop on special.
I was served by ***, to whom I explained that I wish to upgrade the motherboard to a higher-end one. He said that while it wouldn’t be possible during the sale, I could keep the PC unopened, then bring it in on Tuesday – as Mon would still be hectic – and pay in the difference for a higher board.

I called him today and when he asked the price of the upgrade from another assistant in the store, he was now informed that it isn’t possible on birthday sales, contrary to what he told me.
I spoke to *** the store manager who explained that the Sale stock was acquired at a lower price, thus the upgrade at R599 wouldn’t be possible.
I explained that I understand that perfectly and am not asking for the R599 price. He can work out the cost of the sale motherboard and I will pay the difference between that and the MSI Z68MA.
He explained that he cannot do that as the system doesn’t allow him to. He can do this for Ram etc, but not for motherboards.

Please see if you could help, as I am sure there should be some way to get the upgrade done.
The PC is still sealed in the box I received it from the store.

What do you think was the response?

Inspite of being off sick that day, Gregg immediately arranged for the swap out to be made.
Not only that, instead of charging me R599 ( or even more) or even adding on a labour charge for having to swap the board, they didn't charge me a cent and even apologised for the confusion!
A big thumbs up to Pc Zone and special thanks to Greg.

If you can keep up the good service, no computer store would ever be able to compete with you.

The only problem is that you need to come complain here to actually get something resembling good service rather than having gotten it from the store in the first place.

If I look at Esquire, everytime someone complains they fix the problem. That is how it should be, none of this per case basis BS that PC Zone is pulling.

My 2c.

I always find these kinds of threads are worse than not saying anything at all.

Does a company really need a thread like this when they do something good? Makes you wonder how poor they must be.

That's the problem. When he went back to the store they showed him a toffee, now that they 'fixed' what should have been a non-issue it is deemed as outstanding service, wtf?
