Outsurance R400 rip-off!!

Seems obvious to me that you would not be able to get a payment every time you requested a quote from them...

Further to this, it would always be fairly easy to beat your existing insurance anyway. All they need to do is increase the excess.

this post was not about converting to outsurance ... but rather more about the slimey tactics in getting you to quote in the hopes of getting R400,if they do not beat your current premium, and even when they are 3 times more costly, they then come out with an excuse about why they cannot pay the R400. Also, there are supposed Terms and conditions that apply, but nowhere can you find this on their site!!

btw .. with PPS and they very good considering you pay mostly half of what other insurers want

That is the thing.. if they are so underhanded with R400 .. what will they do when you join them and claim? (That is the point)

So you failed to read the terms and conditions and now you blame OUTsurance?

I've been their customer for many years and have made some big claims - not once have I had a problem.

I think they should state in the start of the call , that if you have done this you can't do it again etc. Takes 10 seconds..

Wait, you got R200 earlier this year for proving that you have cheaper insurance and you tried again when they raised the price to R400? It wouldn't make sense for them not to put T&Cs in place to stop people from repeatedly claiming cheaper insurances prices.

sorry, we not all as rich as you, to turn away R400 or at least save a bit on our insurances!!
Breaking news: Honesty has nothing to do with how much money you or I have. It is not a question of degree but of principle. You already knew the last time they quoted (and claimed R200) that your current insurance is cheaper.

It's because of strict literalists like you that companies have to write an essay of disclaimers on their packaging. If the microwave doesn't expressly say "not for drying or warming living animals" you think you have a case against the manufacturer when the hamster died in the microwave? Another example of the ravages of positivism on our culture - everyone wants other people to do their thinking for them. Did it not occur to you why they might make that offer? What the spirit of the offer is and not just the letter?

You get my sympathy, but not for trying to rip off that company.

some people really need to learn to read .... I did not try to rip them off .... I merely took up the offer they presented. If they did not want to do this, they then should not advertise it.
@Arthur, how is taking up an advertised offer, ripping them off??

I last tried it about a year ago when they offered the R200 .... which they had again, but I never tried as I figured it was part of the same offer. Now that it was R400 and a YEAR LATER, I figured I would try it out again as the promo seemed to have changed.
My main gripe was that there was no clear T&Cs or at least a link to the T&Cs in the promo offer on their website

The Terms and Conditions seem clear. I dont understand what the issue is?

He wasted 30 minutes unwittingly. There has to a law of sorts which prohibits outsurance from wasting someone's time? Surely? :p

How about a law prohibiting him wasting the poor salesman's time (and possible commission) when he probably wouldn't switch if they offered like R10 lower?

how much do u make in an hour??
I bet most people do not make that in an hour, so why would u not take up this offer, is a clear indicator that most are not really aware of the value of money!!

I wouldn't write it off to an hourly rate alone.

The fact that my information will go into the database of Outsurance and FNB and every subsidiary they are linked to wouldn't be worth the R400 and the endless hours wasted after getting my R400.

OutSurance system should have pick it up when he supplied his ID.

They need to improve their system.

I called them for cheaper insurance - they weren't. When I asked for my R400 = I was told "Sorry, you requested a quote a few months ago, therefor don't qualify"

Even though, when I called a few months ago, I didn't get any cash back. I was just shopping for insurance.

Anyway, it didn't bother me enough to make a fuss about it. However, in this case - the T & C's are clear - therefore there isn;t an issue here?
