Oven pan !

Is that the oval/rectangular clay thing in two halves (lid and base) that you can also use with coals. If it is they are farking great!

Yep that's them. Pop a chicken in with a cup of water and some veg and the Romanotopf will do all of the work ;)

Just my layperson's term :)

So what I really mean, is "that big dish you would use when you want to roast something in the oven" :D

A casserole dish perhaps? If so I can vouch for Le Creuset, they have an enamel coating that comes clean in a jiffy and they are pretty hard wearing.

Once you have cooked what you needed to cook remove the food and put the pan back on the plate adding boiling water and bit of vinegar. Let it boil for another couple of minutes and then rinse under a hot tap with fast flowing water. Alternatively just add hot water & detergent and allow it to soak until such time as you do the dishes.

I find the above use makes for a whole lot less work & scrubbing.

Believe it or not, I do that everyday ;)
But try making a pot of biryani in one of the more... traditional pots and that gets you nowhere. My mother told me to boil it with surf washing powder after I'd been doing the above and trying to clean it every day for a week. That worked, amazingly enough.

Sunday roasts were my mother's prevue and she's British. :)

Share regardless. You do have her recipe(s)?

Hopefully she was from Cornwall and you also have an excellent cornish pasty recipe :D

Do not do this with a seasoned pan!

Well, if you want to get rid of the seasoning, go right ahead... :p
