Over or under inflation?

Have you checked the alignment?

normally the wrong inflation affects the middle or edges evenly, that looks like bad camber

Nothing to do with inflation. Serious rear alignment problem, but could also be caused by continuous overloading on some vehicles.

are you saying "your momma's so fat, she causes rear alignment problems" ??

camber

car appears to be FWD so i suspect all that can be done on the back is set the camber, a bad toe can also cause that wear but unlikely there is any toe setting

what car is it?

Damn, I know know my rear tyres are to be replaced soon, but damn... how do you not notice this??

My girlfriend also had me furious when I saw one of her tyres looking like this.

The scariest is when you see a car (not my gf) come flying pass at 150+ km/h and you see the sparks from the wire in the tyres! 2km later, he had an accident. :(

Jip, hence the reason I'm not pushing my car at the moment... and people think it's because of the fuel price... lol... it's because of the tyre prices...

Camber angle?

Do both front tyres have a negative camber? Camber angle

If so then perhaps someone set the camber like that?
A negative camber is used for better cornering. Personally I wouldn't set my tyres up like that, but there are people that do.
In your case the camber angle has chewed the inside of the tyre off and now in my opinion those tyres need to be replaced as soon as possible.
If you have a accident with your car the Insurance Assessor will pick up on those tyres and declare the car unroadworthy and you will not be able to make a claim against your Insurance and in actual fact the other parties Insurance Company may even be able to make a claim against you personally for driving an unroadworthy car.

Thanks, It's a ford focus and when my mother bought the car new it been "beefed up" a bit with big '18' wheels.:o She was told the car had been used in a stand on show. So maybe they did mess around with the camber. And don't worry, nobody is driving the car at the moment :)
