Ive got a 7900GT, had it for bout 8 months, and now after playing a game for over 30min, the graphics starts tearing and lags?
Is this a overheating issue? What can i do about it?
Or mabye a drivers issue? hopefully.
THANKS

maybe a dodge driver... BUT there might me dust that has collected in the cards cooling... so take out the card and clean it...

My cards cooling gets cogged up with cat hair and dust...

take a fan open your side cover turn the fan on and play

if it gives you no problem get better cooling for your vga card or take it back and get it swopped out

i would try the newest nvidia driver first.

before messing with the hardware
does it happen with other graphics intensive games?
check the heat how high is the gpu and system temps at the time ?
make sure its not overlocked

Its the card, i have had 2 7900GTs, the 1st one did this everytime the card would get to around 58 degrees it would artifact & sometimes BSOD. Eventually even in windows it started to artifact:eek: I emailed gainward for RMA & they did not reply

I'm not sure graphics would lag due to heat. Heat would cause color blotching or artifacts. Perhaps your card is faulty? NVidia has a decent warranty - get it swapped.

My previous graphics card (also a 7900GT) lagged due to heat. I even created a thread about it :D

what CPU are u using?

does your case have al least 2 fans, one in front and one on the side?
make sure the gpu fan runs at normal speed
this seems like a enviroment temp to hgih problem

Cpu - 3800+ AMD.
And the card hasnt been overclocked.
Im pretty sure its a dust build up problem and Im going to get another fan for my case cos i only have one at the back and have been told to get one for the front.
The blotching and artiacts happens in all games, COD4, Team Fortress, etc.
Thanks for the help.

ever thought it could be the cpu... I know when I had my AMD I had issues with overheating.. untill i installed like 10 12" fans in my antec case which kept everything under 30c.. i ran a 4000+ AMD with a 7600GT same problem..

but now in a intel everything runs so smoother and cooler..

What temp should ure graphics card be at?
When idle and when getting used?

Just tested it now.
Idle - 67C
Playing a game - 82C and goes up longer I play, that was after about 15 min.

I think the max temp is for nvidia is 115 c but that sounds crazy:p
mine never goes above 65 c in summer. Has the coolpipe cooling. 7600gt

all is good now, gave PC a good clean, now its gone down 20C :D
THANKS
