piracy is not cool.
stealing is stealing.
Pirating is not stealing.
The music and film industry is suffering because of piracy.
No they're not, this is industry propaganda. Their profits run into
hundreds of
billions of dollars a year, how is this suffering? If they are making a tiny fraction less profit than usual they should update their business models to suit the 21st century instead of trying to rip people off even more than they normally do.
in 10 years try and look for a good movie or good songs without proper funding because people don't (get) paid for what they produce.
The artists that produce these works get paid almost nothing at the moment anyway, the parasitic corporations take all the money. I'm quite happy to pay the artist directly, those that put up the facility to do so. Artists that are greedy and/or still prefer to get ripped-off by the parasitic corporations don't deserve even the little bit they would've gotten. Besides, there hasn't been any good movies/music coming from the corporate studios/music producers in at least the last twenty years, starting with SAW (Stock, Aiken and Waterman, look it up). All the good stuff is coming from independents, which I support.
What the hell makes it ok to download stuff illegally?
The parasitic corporations ripping people off for third-rate rubbish.
What gives you the right to enjoy other peoples work without paying for it?
Like I said, I do pay for the work that actually deserves payment. The rest wouldn't have gotten my money anyway.
what if your employer refuses to pay your salary next month because he feels like using your services for free?
That is a completely false analogy. I can only do one set of work, and I'm the only person that can do it. Say I figure out a way to do ten times the work with the same amount of effort, should my employer suddenly start paying me ten times the salary?
Think of it this way; say I shoplift a CD from a store, then they have lost something of value. They don't have the CD any more so they can't sell it so they've lost something. Now say I download that same CD off the internet,
they haven't lost anything! They still have the original CD, they can still sell it and make money!
The problem is people are mired in 20th century thinking when we are living in the
21st century.
people who do this are d bags.
So are people who comment without doing their research and thereby turn into unwitting shills for the industry
