Packet Loss

Any reason why you chose frogfoot over metro in the first place? I would have dropped them like a hot potatoe already. Fibre should just work. My vuma trenched in durban hasn't dropped a packet in 3 years. Although, I'm not blessed with a choice of FNO if the proverbial hits the fan.

Hello

Price and they where live months before MFN, that is the main reason

Hello all,

Just an update so FFN team has been in contact with me the entire time while they are traying to resolve the issue, last ping plotter test was sent yesterday and will have more feedback by COB today but all in all the support is very good at the moment.

I will let you know what the fix is and when it has been resolved

Regards

Hello all,

Okay so testing is still going on.

FFN team is busy with the ISP Core Department to see what the issue is and to get resolved do for the most the packet loss is still the same, and we will await feedback

Regards

Hello all,

At this stage still no real concrete feedback from ISP or Frogfoot the one thinks it is on the other ones side and up and down. It is rather frustrating for the end user as we are the ones struggling and the rest is getting paid the service which in my opinion is not acceptable. Screen shots of last nights issues.

To be honest i think a lot of fiber users use the line for gaming and playing on a completive level is close to impossible with packet loss. The packet loss is continues and not isolated as can see on all my Ping Plotters that i have sent, I dont know what is wrong but i would of assumed that the FNO and ISP would of resolved by now.

I will also just add that the testing was done on the ONT and Router directly

They're stringing you along. Just cancel and use LTE/5G.

Just worried about latency here as i use the the line to game a lot. But yea with the packet loss it is probably going to be the same if not better. Will let you know what happens and take it from there

Good day all,

So only Feedback was on Friday that the Level 2 Engineers are looking into it (Don't know what that means)

The person at Frogfoot has also asked my ISP to give me feedback directly instead of the email that has been used the entire time. Packet loss has been shocking again.

Ticket is 4 days away from a full month

As wingnut said they stringing you along. Frogfoot are having such issues in an area close to mine where almost daily the whole area is tripping and they just like "we don't know what's wrong" they done maintenance like 4 times and each time it gets worse.

I am starting to agree with you there, when there support contacted me directly i was hopefull that they have good service levels and giving them the benefit off the doubt that they will assist, but taking me out of the communication that has been ongoing for 2 weeks all of sudden was a little weird to me.

Will start my shopping for new FNO today.

What they have not know is not only me we are about 8 Customers that use the same ISP and FNO and they are all awaiting my feedback as well so we will probably all move over to a new FNO.

It's frustrating and sad that FNOs get away with running a network like this.

Is OpenServe the only network in ZA without any sort of PL issues?

Do other FNOs simply lack the technical resources and skill to build, manage and maintain a loss free network?!

I'd say openserve and Vumatel are the two best in SA

If i was only lucky enough to have them but i cant go on like the above test.

I looking at Metro Fibre now and traying to get some PING test on excising lines in our area and see what the difference is.

The price is more but yea for service and quality of line its worth it. I will keep the thread running and post new trace routes once the new FNO is in if people will like to follow, i am just over it now

When FF does their network right then they're really good, unfortunately they generally fail on backhaul links.

That is all i want!!!! i understand there can be an issue here and there but WOW the loss i have been getting is a joke and how long can it really take to find the issue!! Should of followed the advise and just change over when i started the thread and it would of been over by now.

But so we learn LOL Hopefully if the ISP agrees i will be sorted come 1 December
