Panelbeater

It looks worth it yes, but I'm not completely convinced that the end result will look the same, even on a cheapie. That cheapie still looks like it could still be worth a pretty penny.

How will the crack be repaired, plastic welding?

Something like that, I used to drive a mint condition Kentucky Rounder back in the day, the bumper looked so flawless I only realised the day I hit a kerb that it has previously been repaired, they used a wire embedded below the plastic surface to sew the crack together, sone adhesive thing and bodyfiller or top, sanded to be smooth, thereafter painted you wouldn't tell after that.

How exactly do you seem them repairing your plastic bumper? The guy is right, the whole things needs to be replaced if you want it in original condition.
Where have you guys been living? Of course plastic bumpers can be repaired, before the replace everything to fix the problem things were repaired to very satisfactory standards and it is still happening today, I would not be surprised if those guys are going to repair that bumper, paint it nice and take R10k from OP.

Problem with repairing plastic, bumper, fenders or fairings.

They plastic weld it. Plastic weld hardens the plastic and removes it's flexibility. It will break at the same place again and this time break clean off.

I asked around yesterday at work they mentioned someone. I will go see him when next week, I got the whole quotation from the panelbeater. I'm shocked as the only damaged part is the cracked bumper and a bent cross member. The car is brand new so I'm 100% sure it has never, been in accident so I don't understand why they feel the need to replace other things.

So I will take my time go around look for other options, but for now I will leave the car as it is.

Taking a brand new car to a back yard panel beater, I'm cringing.

Why are they replacing the aircon condensor and radiator shroud? A small crack like that live with it, you'll probably end up with more.

maybe it was also damaged in the accident?

or some dealer trying to make some money of of OP?
The first guy could have missed it or this guys are crooks, i'll go for the latter.
after the assessor check my car he tell me the damage would be over R10 000. The bumper need to be replaced like serious how crazy is he, he claim they can't repair the bumper non the cross member can't be fix.

The car has never been in accident its brand new, its my first incident with the car. They want to make extra buck, I will just have to live with that crack.

You will scratch that bumper again.

The wasn't that much force as I was in gear one going forward, preparing to park in reverse just that it was dark hence I didn't see the tree log.

The car is still good condition just that the small crack on the bumper. I thought it could be fixed hence I went to a panelbeater. I was prepared to fix it myself if its around R2000.

That is not a scratch, it is a horrible looking gaping hole, in no time paint will be peeling off from the bumper, i just don't understand why he does not take the car to a bumper repair place.

They are not as dangerous as you think, at least some of them, as long as you go to those who are recommended, he can even get the mobile guys to come and do it at his place if he is that worried. My recommended backyard guy works at the big panelbeater in town during the week, and does his jobs at the weekend, he knows what he is doing, that is a small job.

If our guy is worried about resale values and stuff he should be talking to his insurance and just pay the excess to get it done properly.

Yeah my colleagues recommended someone I will go see him next week to repair the bumper. I don't want to claim through insurance this is a small job.

Indeed this is not my year early this year I had accident with my Honda Brio, around May the engine mount broke Honda wanted R82 000 to repair the car. I end up fixing the car for R14000.
