Panelbeater

Note to OP, in future, learn how to operate your car properly and not rely on some muppet who probably can't even drive directing you?
But you feel like a Boss when someone does that for you, I have seen how people sit and chill in their cars while a petrol attendant open the bonnet and does things in there.

Yeah my colleagues recommended someone I will go see him next week to repair the bumper. I don't want to claim through insurance this is a small job.

Indeed this is not my year early this year I had accident with my Honda Brio, around May the engine mount broke Honda wanted R82 000 to repair the car. I end up fixing the car for R14000.
Now you are talking, there is absolutely no reason to live with that horrible gash on the bumper. But do let your insurance know about it, you don't want them rejecting your future claims because of this.

I love the ones that roll up to the pump, crack the window just enough to slide out the money and sit there staring at facebook while the attendant does who knows what:ROFL::ROFL:

My friend got a pretty decent amount of diesel in his petrol Jetta a couple years ago, reason: the petrol attendant heart the tap tap tappets sound the Jetta was making and just assumed it was diesel. I still don't know how this happened as I have been told a couple of times that this cannot happen because of nozzle sizes etc.

That is not a scratch, it is a horrible looking gaping hole, in no time paint will be peeling off from the bumper, i just don't understand why he does not take the car to a bumper repair place.

Im talking about scratches he will get on the same bumper after a couple days.
I remember two of my friends who fixed their bumpers and few days later their newly fixed bumpers were bumped again.
Save your money for something more bad than that little crack.

Excellent advice there, always inform them. A small increase is cheaper than a big claim rejection.

If the car is insured why aren’t you just getting it done properly? Why all this running around to skimpnand save a few rand?

I will just have to live with that crack I will take my time to look for a second hand bumper.

So you don't have insurance then?

Just remember come sale time and nobody wants to give you what you think you deserve for the car that all these little cracks and scratches are the reason.

Probably better if you just stopped driving as a whole.

Because from every cluster**** of an experience with a car he has had so far, of which there are many, he still hasn't learnt a little thing called common sense.

Is your excess R10,000? Because I honestly don't see the problem regardless the size of the job.

Also something to consider if you are using a backyard panelbeater your warranty from the manufacturer is more than likely gone for all things paint/body related.

There is a very good reason they quoted as much as they did because they'll also back the work with a warranty, use the correct manufacturer approved paint and provide a better service as a whole.

But you just don't want to learn, so dig another hole for yourself just like the last few.

And what would your excess have been? Surely not R14000.

A simple once off payment to make this thread irrelevant and all the hassle someone else's problem.

If you pay insurance then you should use it.

Otherwise why are you paying for it in the first place?

If the assessor says there’s R10k damage, then pay the excess and let them fix it properly. That way your resale and warranty are kept intact and your significant investment is protected. That’s why you pay your premium. If the excess is so high you are taking a new car to some backyard panelbeater who is going to patch a split bumper and ignore the damage to the crossmember then you’ve structured your insurance wrong.

You love drama yazi I do have insurance my excess is R4500 honestly I don't want to involve insurance.

For major things, not something that can be fixed for below excess amount.

Pay the excess and get it right once and for all. Also why is your excess so high on a Spark? My wife's Spark is R450 a month with no excess??

The panel man ask you, do you have insurance, then he loads it. Ok, he must guarantee his job, and you wants to sell your car one day.

His damage is more than his excess. This one is going to burn his fingers again with this. Just wait. Old jalopy is fine to patch cheaply, but he actually had a decent newish car.
