I wouldn't go with not than 9 of these 460w panels per MPPTSo what is the maximum number of panels I can have per string please?

And do I use VOC for that?Max panels per string is based on voltage, so multiply, as long as it's under 425 you're OK.
Correct. And do I use VOC for that?
425V is the max for mppt range, beyond that you lose efficiency but no smoke as yet, beyond 500V that's where the trouble happens.Max panels per string is based on voltage, so multiply, as long as it's under 425 you're OK.
It really isn't rocket science and if he is competent with other installs I would maybe look at helping him understanding the inverter better. Thanks everyone. I appreciate the input. I will get another installer to do it, even if I need to pay a bit more for their traveling expenses. Just for the peace of mind.
The problem is before buying from Steve this installer quoted me on a sunsynk(R2500 more expensive then Steve), Revov 5.2kw battery and 16 x 330W panels. I dont think this would be his 1st sunsynk installation. It really isn't rocket science and if he is competent with other installs I would maybe look at helping him understanding the inverter better.
I had the same issue when looking for an installer. I ended up just going with an electrician I found on Facebook but I already knew exactly how I wanted the 8kw sunsynk inverter weird.
He was uncertain that the inverter can do what I said it would. I told him to connect it like I'm asking and I'll show him what this inverter can do. Now he does a few sunsynk installs and contacts me a couple of times per year if he gets stuck with a complex setup.
I think having had his first sunsynk install behind him did help to get him more installations using sunsynk inverters.
To be safe, I usually keep it at 8 panels per string on the JA Solar 4XXW series of panelsI wouldn't go with not than 9 of these 460w panels per MPPT
If you do need help with anything. You can PM @DuracellBunny. He helped me a lot with my system and some settings here and there as well as planning Phase 2 and Phase 3 of my systemThe problem is before buying from Steve this installer quoted me on a sunsynk(R2500 more expensive then Steve), Revov 5.2kw battery and 16 x 330W panels. I have just ordered a 5K Sunsynk, 3x Hubble AM-2s and 14x 460W panels yesterday from Powerforumstore, for another family member's installation.Hi all
So I bought a 5kw Sunsynk, 2 x 5.5kw Hubbles and 12 x 460w JA panels from Steve.
Asking the local solar installer to come and install it he asked me why so many panels, the inverter cant handle that.
Have I not been doing the calculations correctly?
Please help

That's increased to 13A, since yonks ago.The only thing I see is that the max mppt current is 11A but you panels can produce more than 11A, don't know how the inverter will handle that as its not a big margin.
Coming back to the installer, I would drop him like a hot cake, the inverter is clearly rated for more power and your panels are lower than that.
By adding resistance. I=V/RThe MPPT clips the incoming current automatically. How it does this I have no idea.
It cannot do the same for voltage.
Yes I simplified it, but the principle is the same. It is easy to play with current, no so easy with voltage. No not really
A MPPT is basically a DC- DC converter.
Obviously you can't exceed the maximum voltage but it can control the voltage and current as required for optimal power generation from the solar panels
Get a different installer.Hi all
