Panels for 5 Kw Sunsynk

In the end I went with an Installer 200km away. With their traveling it was still R10k cheaper then the local guy. I searched far and wide, got quotes from R12k to R29k with waiting times up to 6 weeks. Some people never even came back to me with a quote. The 'best' local guy also wanted to take my inverter and batteries to his office to assemble and then bring back. If I refused he would up his quote. What the heck

HTF would that even work. Makes no sense. Mount the inverter, mount the batteries, and connect them. WTF would he be doing with them at his office?

Apparently mounting them on a steel back plate...

At the end of the day im just happy it is happening now. It is highly frustrating sitting with R130k worth of solar equipment in my house on the floor and then being loadshedded

Same guy that said I didnt buy the stuff from him( he was R30k more just for the inverter, batteries and panels) so he wont carry any warranty. I then told him you cant take the stuff away from my premises and then say you dont carry any warranty.

Not defending "some installer" I don't know.. but as you are 200km away - it's not unthinkable that he'd want to connect things up, check firmware and batteries. All of the components listed have had issues out the box before - not loads, but it does happen - so maybe it was a smoke test of sorts before driving all the way out there?

Hope all goes well and that the new guys understands Sunsynk inverters, the options around wiring essential/non essentials etc. Please shout here if you have any questions..
Sorry should have said it better. This is the local guy, less then 3km away from me that wants to take the stuff to his office.

I know the feeling, my setup was also lying on my garage floor for a month while I found an installer.

Thanks, the new guy is a Sunsynk master installer or something. A local sparky was R5k cheaper then this guy, but after asking him some questions he couldnt answer, I wasnt comfortable using him just to save R5k.

I see one date palm will have to go, or at least be cut way down. Cant have shading that bad at 09:00 in the morning.

The hubble cloudlink was also not in the box, so will see what we can do in the mean time.

I must say im very impressed with the installers. 2 Guys, but they work like 6.

Congrats.
From your flowchart (high UPS reading), I assume the inverter is powering everything and you did not separate your db to essential and non-essential?
Yes everything on essential side. I wfh and can manage it if needs be. I schedule the borehole and geysers accordingly

Looks like a typical Karoo house :) My dad grew up in the Uniondale area and my mom in Steynsburg . Miss the visits to those farms. Seeing your installer has a George number, I assume you're a bit more to the north west
