Panels for 5 Kw Sunsynk

Can someone please explain this to me, what is happening with the pv that gets generated now? Doesnt seem to contribute to the load and also doesnt seem to charge the batteryIMG_20220506_071950_7.jpg

And even now, why is battery being drained when the pv can handle the load?

Battery and inverter both need electricity for self consumption. There are also conversion losses so if pv is generating 200w there are losses when converting it from DC to AC.

Apparently mounting them on a steel back plate...

At the end of the day im just happy it is happening now. It is highly frustrating sitting with R130k worth of solar equipment in my house on the floor and then being loadshedded
That's an old Victron trick, there are so many discrete components that it makes sense to have a backplate. Clearly he has not done a Sunsynk install yet.

I love this, panels are nice and straight, and even heights. Most IBR roofs are a challenge, they are boat-shaped even when they look straight. putting panels on it makes it far more obvious, because the reflections on the shiny surface show up even little imperfections. These guys did a good job, they clearly used spacers to get the correct heights, and make it look like a single pane of glass. It was a good great installer who had pride in his work. Congratulations!

Taking shape. Last night was the last time loadshedding hit me between the legsView attachment 1302564
Hate to be a debbie downer, but why is the unit mounted so close to the wall on the left?

Do you have the 50cm of space suggested between the inverter and the left wall for the fans there? I can't quite see if thats enough spacing.

I would have moved it right a bit, as you definitely had the space.

Relevant bit from the manual excerpted.

I'm the last person to argue with the manual, but this isn't an 8K Sunsynk with multiple fans on the left hand side, its a 5K, with a single fan midway facing upwards, the heat flows upwards through the heatsink, so I don't see this as too much of a problem.

Morning all, please assist. on my two hubbles 5.5kw, what is the voltage if 100% full please? And what is the voltage if 20% and 0%?

Im also trying to figure out what is the ideal settings for these please?

these are with the Batt type set as Lithium. The installer told me something about the sunsynk firmware not being ready yet and that the settings should be AGM V and I must leave the yellow cable unplugged

The installer should be logging a ticket with Hubble and determining what the firmware is, there is a known issue with a particular firmware. If it is this, they have an updated version. You ought to be using CAN comms, I have no issues with my 3 Hubbles on CAN.

thanks, he pushed the firmware a short while ago and I CAN confirm it is working great

It really isn't rocket science and if he is competent with other installs I would maybe look at helping him understanding the inverter better.

I had the same issue when looking for an installer. I ended up just going with an electrician I found on Facebook but I already knew exactly how I wanted the 8kw sunsynk inverter weird.

He was uncertain that the inverter can do what I said it would. I told him to connect it like I'm asking and I'll show him what this inverter can do. Now he does a few sunsynk installs and contacts me a couple of times per year if he gets stuck with a complex setup.

I think having had his first sunsynk install behind him did help to get him more installations using sunsynk inverters.
Tell him he can do he wiring and the COC, you will come do the planning and setups for large installs. Billable of course :)
