Paris Protests over Pension reforms

In short, the riots have very little to do with pensions even though its being labelled the reason. Its the whole macron **** show built up over time that has now erupted
Evidence for this?

The protests are overtly socialist in nature. They have targeted all reforms that seek to privatise their pensions (i.e. BlackRock). There demands have been explicitly Socialist and demand the entrenchment of extended social welfare.

I am trying to understand why people who have raged for years against "leftism and Socialism are evil" are supporting one of the most prolific pro-Socialist protests and movements in years.

We actually planned a a couple of days away to go to Paris end of this month. Moulin Rouge is paid for already (non refundable:( )

Been holding out but these ****ing French ****s are ruining everything :(
I was in Paris recently and I work for a French company. The media focuses on the protests that gain the biggest attention. The most vocal ones occur at night and are generally located around French Government buildings/locations.

You should be fine.

Nah, Macron is the communist **** who ruined everything.
I don't think you know what "Communism" means.

Macron is reducing the burden of the welfare state, seeking to privatise pensions and to curtail Socialist policies. Literally opposite of communism.

Excellent proletariat uprising against Capitalist overlords. Exactly as Marx predicted. French state pensions are being privatised by BlackRock. A good Socialist back lash against the largess of Capitalism.
errr ... the very fact that there even is a "state pension" makes it socialism

but hey whatever, if the welfare recipients sucking on the government's teat want to riot I'm all for it, so long as Macron gets the guillotine

Ron made history to be the first mybber to call JOB. Have a listen. Our community in Midrand is so proud of its son, I tell ya.

Interesting that dalits have now become political commentators

Exactly and trying to reduce the state pension, transfer it to private companies is the hallmark of Capitalism.

So I am confused why all of a sudden, some of the most ardent anti-Communists and Anti-Socialists are against these capitalist polices and are supporting the calls for expanded Socialism?

It is the radical left that are driving these protests. Noting that the Socialist candidate in the recent elections ran on a platform that sought to reduce the retirement age. Far right groups have come out in support of Macron and resisted protests and tried to undermine student and Union groups who are organising these protests.

Some comments from Socialist circles -

France has entered a Marxian state of pre-insurrection. Orderly protest over the retirement age has mutated into a deeper crisis of the regime.

I commend you for aligning with Marx and supporting some of the core tenants of the Communist Manifesto -

The immediate aim of the Communists is the same as that of all other proletarian parties: formation of the proletariat into a class, overthrow of the bourgeois supremacy, conquest of political power by the proletariat.

I'm all here for the lurch of MYBB into Communism and Socialism. Loving the how so many people have come out in support of Socialism.

What a time to be alive!

no it isn't, the government is executing on those actions to the benefit of specific private companies, it remains state controlled, hence, socialism at best, communism when it gets real ugly

oh you are confused alright, confused enough to call something the government controls "capitalist"

and? the gibmedats want their free meal forever, big surprise, the "far right" which in France I can only imagine is actually still left-leaning just wants the status quo, neither group is running around with a manifesto or put much thought into anything beyond free meals and status quo

yup, you're confused

Macron has faced backlash on his privatisation plans. Why else would the protestors target Blackrock, alongside the French Government? Blackrock faced backlash in 2020 when the previous round of anti-Pension reform protests took place.

Blackrock is also a favourite target of the Extinction Rebellion protestors. Greta, is that you?

Reducing the Social Welfare burden on the state is an inherently anti-Socialist policy.

And right on cue, when a government faces a socialist backlash, they always lean right and go full on undemocratic and bypassed parliament to push his initiative through. Exactly what Marx predicts. Hence your alignment with key principles from the Communist Manifesto.

The protests are pro-Socialist in every way shape and form.

raising the retirement age by 2 years means the artisan workers will stay on longer and be able to train novices coming in.

its almost as if there was an event recently that wiped out some of the work force and the experience that goes with it...

it must suck working our ass off for so many years and have the goal posts moved just as you get to them, some peoples health deteriorates pretty fast at those ages. 2 years can mean a lot for some.

but hey, some tards are making a scene over socialism vs capitalism ... the clowns, they are here among us.

Literally all the left, socialist, green and communist parties are supporting and organising these protests.

I mean here is one of the supporters of the protests symbol -

it's fine if you don't get it, wallow in ignorance

it doesn't particularly matter either, seeing Macron face yet more mass protests is always a good show

You guys are the ignorant ones.

Literally supporting communists, the greens, anti-capitalists and socialists.

You just skimmed the news, saw protests against Macron and went all in, without a clue of how your support for the protests is 180 degrees from your traditional ideological standpoint.

Macron is doing exactly what you would support and that is reducing the Social Welfare burden on the state. Unless you have changed your views on Social Welfare all of a sudden?

Illustrates how fleeting and shallow your ideologies are. Perhaps you are more Socialist than you care to understand? Or it is just another day of hypocrisy, but you are too ignorant to understand what is going on in France and how hypocritical your support of the protests is? Is it a "current thing" that you have latched on to, thinking since the protest is against a "WEF/GLOBALIST" it must be worth your approval? Some Horseshoe theory?

Anyway regardless of your misunderstanding here, Macron losing will be a huge win for Socialism in France and Europe. It will motivate Socialist parties to push for more reforms on the back of their successes in mobilising the masses over this event.

Much like the socialist May 68 protests in Paris, which brought about huge changes in France, a successful protest by the socialists in France in 2023 could usher in further expansive Socialist policies and reforms.

Since you are ignorant. I'll show you what the Socialists and Communists are saying.

Macron and the capitalists are feverish

He tries to appear inflexible, but in reality he is very weak. The strike has again shown that his policies have no support among the population. It is explosive. The use of 49:3 shows that Macron has, in a way, already lost. The workers and the youth have raised their heads!

All our urgent demands are now on the table: for higher wages, price freezes, the repeal of anti-unemployment laws, racist laws… and the struggles will continue.

The strikes show that it is the workers who run the companies, the buses, the trains and the whole of society, not the handful of the super-rich and the politicians who serve them. They show the social strength of the workers when they collectively enter into struggle. This force has the means to change society, to get rid of Macron and all his policies. Enough of losing our gains one by one and being crushed by the capitalist machine and its dictatorship of profit!

Against capitalism, let’s fight for socialism

6. Expropriation and confiscation of the assets of billionaires and reintroduction of wealth tax.
7. Nationalisation of the energy and banking sectors under democratic control and management of the working class.

Wow, with your support of these protests, the EFF would be supremely proud to have someone like you join their ranks.

Like I said, if these guys oust Macron, that is what they will be pushing for.
