Hi my friendly and informed fellow subscribers!
My brand new (Oct 2016) Ford Figo Trend decided to stop allowing the parking/hand brake to engage!!

How odd!!

Any suggestions?

Yup, sadly only booked in for Tuesday....

I'm no scrub when it comes to cars, but even I don't work on handbrakes. Those are fidgety as fark!

Take it to Ford or someone who does brake systems

I will indeed tell them that!! The car is 4 months old with 4K on the clock - can't be brake pads already???

There's tension when I pull the hand brake up it just won't engage so was wondering if it was something weird...

That is a dangerous fault.

With Hyundai their company policy compels them to attend to potentially dangerous problems. Even if its just changing tired wipers. Yes they include those as a dangerous problem as poor visibility is a bad thing.

I am quite annoyed about waiting. I've sent an email to Dealer Principal in the hopes of escalating. I'm a little disappointed.

A little more info? Did it object vocally or something?

Nah, no talking just no audible click reassuring me that the hand brake was engaged.

Hope they gave you a courtesy because that is a new car you have plus they cannot expect you to drive a car in that condition. Did they tell you what caused the failure?

No Courtesy car and no explanation - in fact they are very blase about it and keep telling me not to worry.......
