Parking Psychology - Minor Rant

try parking at wits... I've been parked in, properly, twice and had to wait for the miscreant to come to his car :mad: (very explosive situation). My cars been banged to pieces because people park lime morons, and realize they too close to my car, evidently after they open their doors :mad:.

Also, I think all the kids these days call it "poaching" - when you wait for a parking to open up :p.
 
i have great parking karma - i always seem to get a great spot.

also, the really close spots tend to be taken be the people who get to the shopping centre first: the people who work there and stay all day :/
 
It really doesn't phase me where I park either. I fear I may get a beating one day though regarding those who take their time getting out of a parking spot when there really is no space. I get to a point where I nearly see red when it starts to become blatant. Funny when I stare directly at their eyes when they drive past they don't even so much as glance at me :/

I have always considered becoming like these people :D once it lasted like 20 minutes or so then old habits returned.

For me the parking bays furthest from the entrance are the best. Usually I park with no one on either side of me so the fam can swing their doors as wide as they want. Besides, parking up front is always busy with everyone else trying to get those bays.

As for those waiting to get my spot? Sorry chap I'm going to take my time. I'm not here to make your life easier. This is still my parking and I'm under no obligation to hurry for some stranger who is waiting.
I won't ignore you though, just politely tell you I'm not leaving now.
 
I don't think parked cars should hurry up and get out of the bay for another car to go in, people must just find an empty parking bay and that's it. It doesn't matter if that empty parking bay is at the other side of the mall. It's ridiculous that people want to park as close as possible to the entrance, even if it means paying R6 rather than not paying if you only park 20m further away.

I don't feel the need to rush. I often fire off an sms or change the CD in my CD player. There are other parking spots.
 
Most drivers should not be on the roads. The driving standards in this country are despicable.

I agree that the driving standards are poor, but that doesn't make some of us faultless. We all do stupid things sometimes - but rarely does anyone apologise when they stuff up. It's always the other persons fault.

That is all that is required. Common decency. Else I find it strange that people enjoy hanging around in parking bays anyway :D which is why at a point it becomes blatantly obvious what sort of people they are.

That's just it.Somehow you won't feel the need to conveniently do whatever you need to do if no one was waiting.
Its just human nature to make people wait unnecessarily.
Or is it?

Are you going to take the normal time that you take or xtra time just to aggravate him on purpose.
Now if there's a smoking hot blonde bombshell waiting for your parking then you would invariably grow some common courtesy and hastily oblige her your space,wouldn't you?
 
Or local Spar has a one-way system in the parking lot and there is always that one idiot who drives the wrong way around because it's a shorter distance to the exit

There are also two handicapped bays with traffic cones to stop able bodied *rseholes from parking in them. Not that it deters them though, they just park across the entrance to the two bays and one stays in the car while the other one goes into the shop

Oh it makes me mad!

Nope, it has nothing to do with intentionally keeping people waiting.
 
how hard can it be to spread a little love and joy by hurrying a little? whenever i see someone is waiting for my spot, i make an effort to get out more quickly!

Because I'm more likely to cause an accident changing CDs, snsing or trying to find my sunglasses while I'm driving than I am stationary in a parking bay.

I dont intentionally take longer, but I dont hurry either. There are certain things that need to be done before I can go - I need to put my music on, tip the carguard, put my sunglasses on, put my GPS on (if necessary).

fair enough. but some people in this thread have been talking as if they spitefully take longer than they need to. also, i personally find it simple to pull out, and then cd/sunglass/etc once just pulled out. :/
