Password for my network???

I formatted my desktop pc.

Now suddenly when i want to connect to my desktop from my laptop to access some files, i suddenly need a password, anyone know how to fix this.

I had this problem before and never know why it is happening

I've seen this problem before when simple file sharing wasn't used to share the folder, thereby not actually enabling file sharing. Share the folder with simple file sharing by going to Tools -> Folder Options -> Enable simple file sharing and then right-clicking on the folder -> Sharing and security

Else, if you are using Windows Vista, disable Password-protected sharing in the Network & Sharing Center.

I agree. In my experience, on a fresh install, attempting to access network shares on said freshly installed pc, if nothing was shared, the message you described shows up
