patch-4-0-1

Thats cool, but say we download all these PTR patches. Once cata hits will our clients be updated correctly or will we have to install off a disk and then update again
 
PTR patches never carried over to the game installation. You will have to install it again...
Even people with the beta will have to install everything again and patch it again.
 
PTR, Beta and the live version are effectivley 3 different games.

The PTR realms contains patch 4.0.1
Beta contains Cataclysm ??? I have downloaded it, but havent gone in yet. Too busy raiding. Tonight is a raid free night, so I will take a peek at the beta.
And live is.....Dalaran....... :D

Yes beta contains Cataclysm. The alpha tests already had most of Cataclysm in it, though quite buggy. Having a raid class leader that is also a community rep for Bliz is quite useful to get early invites and do some testing :D

I have no idea...I came online and there was nothing...heard something about a move to another server so I've just started playing my toons on Ahn'Qiraj again with some RL friends of mine.
 
A possible hint to 4.0.1 is posted on mmo-champion, the WoW Trail site states that you can download the "Streaming Client" on October 12/13 (I can't recall exact date).

As I understand it works in the same way the Guild Wars client does, in that you can start playing even if you don't have all the game data. Which is the new content delivery for cataclysm and beyond.
Again this probably nothing more than hopeful speculation.

I noticed this while i was pew-pewing battleboars on my lvl 5 tauren druid on the beta last night. Little blue spinning wheel thingy in the middle of the screen
 
Man I need this patch but cant afford to pay for 5 gigs of downloading on wireless :(
 
Also offering a collect and copy service in the Sandton area if anyone'd like to grab it, drop me a PM and we can arrange to meet at a petrol station or something.
