Guys, if your download is corrupted, its probably your download manager that is the cause. You should probably try to download the file with Filezilla or FlashFXP to ensure it won't be corrupted. Also there is the PAR files to help you repair the downloads. The PARs are for EU only.

edit: When will the latest patch be available on ftp://ftp.wage.co.za/Patches/WoW/ or ftp://ftp.games.saix.net/world_or_warcraft/patches/ ?

edit2: Disclaimer: Yes, I am a noob and I don't know how the patches work for WoW. I usually get them from a friend and havent played in months, but hoping to start up again next month.

Actually, the 3 stage files goes into wow-folder\Updates and make sure you extract them with winrar, which will let you know whether your download was corrupted or not.
 
well, back to square one. even filezilla gave up. it thought it had finished downloading at 1.3gb and shutdown like I asked it too. so, anyone got part 2 on dvd in cape town? maybe the whole shebang to be safe?
 
well every one is downloading these patches like mad... all good and well... BUT does anyone actually know when they are going live?
 
are you guys sure? Cataclism is not yet available in stores yet... i think they are going to keep us in the dark. blizzard will NOT relese the patch untill Cataclism is available. remeber it is going to 4.0.1... that is actually Cataclism and not just another WotLK update! i think it will be annouched at blizzcon... not before...

4 is not a WotLK update. Its the pre-Cataclysm update. Just as 3 wasnt a TBC update, but a pre-WoLK update. Also remember that you dont need to buy the Cataclysm expansion to see the changes to Azeroth, i.e the splitting of the Barrens etc. This is probably what we are busy downloading now. Buying the expansion will give access to level beyond lvl 80, use the new races(worgen and goblin), and I think also enable you buy the flying skill to fly in Azeroth.

Sounds a bit early to me. I would have thought Nov or Dec. But if it is Oct, then great :D

Anycase, there are still quite a few bugs in the beta, especially the 2 new races.

Actually not completely accurate. I am on the PTR and you can't see any of the new world changes, only the old world. All this patch bring is the new talent trees, abilities and the UI overhaul. My bet also is, if you don't upgrade to Cata, you won't be able to see the new world either, after all thats why they keep the whole "oldworld.mpg" file.
 
Is there anyone in Cape Town with these patches that I can swing by and copy from? I'll give you "happy ending" if necessary :p

Dude (assuming u r a dude) u remind me of Chris Rock's character in Jungle Fever, where he begs Wesley Snipes character for some crack cocaine and promises sexual favours in return :p

That is incorrect, you WILL get the old world changes even if you don't upgrade to Cata, you won't be able to access 80-85 content or fly in Azeroth. Also you will have access to the new class/race combo but not the new races or their starting zones. Why do you think this first patch is so large yet all it's updating is the talents and UI.

So basically 4.0.1 will contain most of the old world Cata content which you will need even if you don't buy Cata BUT it won't be active till they release 4.0.3 which is the patch which will trigger the Cataclysm.

If I can get some crack in the process that'd be great :p

But seriously, I'm not on uncapped and only have a 5gig limit. I don't want to spend the next 3 months downloading patches that I can get from someone in a day. Help a fellow player out ;) PM me if you're willing.

We will have to see...see the PTR client is even bigger, include all the new world content files, but no1 has access to them. It is also on the same version as the beta client, everytime there is an update to the beta, the ptr client also updates.

Now I know the cataclysm event hasn't happened yet, but going by the PTR it just doesn't seem that way.

Will I need the expansion to be able to experience the Cataclysm changes?
When the Cataclysm occurs, it will occur for all players, whether they have purchased the expansion or not--you will no longer be able to play in the original version of Kalimdor or the Eastern Kingdoms. However, certain features such as the new zones, new races, and new level cap will only be accessible to players who purchase the expansion.
 
my guess is till they are going to either anouce it at blizzcon later this month ot have it on the shelves by late november for the "festive season" either way... well have to wait! anything earlier... bonus!
