PC Blower

I bought the Makita 600w blower from makro about 2 weeks ago, works well, it was on special for R649 (normal price is R799)..

Works well and quite powerful for cleaning pc's, only thing is I have to take the pc's outside as the my whole workshop gets full of dust..

The one you mentioned from Makro is what you want to get. Note that for an extra hundred bucks or so you can get a 100 or 120 litre one. But then if it's for cleaning small components then it would be fine. Rather go for a bigger one if you have the space though, as the one you listed, the 24l one in the link will decompress quickly when used and will have to switch on open to top up, annoying. We have a 120l in our workshop for cleaning out machines and a full tank of air lasts us almost the whole week. It's a good investment.

do you have to keep it "switched on" while using it or will it run as long as the tank is full?? cos if you have to keep it on, it will be rather noisy?

You just need to turn it on to compress the air in the tank. Then you use the air whilst it's switched off and turn it back on when the air pressure drops and there's no more compressed air in the tank. So whilst you're using it the only noise you hear is the hiss of the air you're using.

I found a small hand blower at the Hyperama at the Blue route around 6 months ago.
Its their in house 'pro tools' series blower.
Its around R120 and red in colour, and to be honest it isn't great quality but it works great for pc's.
Its strong but not overkill.

Resurrecting this, anyone bought a compressor/blower recently that's decent for cleaning out PC's?

I just use an air compressor, although it's probably older than I am...
Just put a brush between the fans and blow.

Had a Bosch for years. Used it yesterday to clean the inside of my desktop.

Remember to jam the fans incl in PSU so as not to over-rev them. And unplug the PC power cord beforehand.

Bought the same one. It's going for 3 years and can also be used to warm up the some charcoal to red in a few minutes :D
