You sure you seated your CPU HSF correctly? I know I didn't at one stage and it was reading 80C idle. Also make sure you clean it properly first before applying new thermal paste.

Question also arises as to how long it is at 61C. I mean, it could be simply reacting to suddenly needing to do more work. Even on my 955BE on an H50 running on just 800MHz a 5%-15% CPU spike suddenly gives a 5C greater reading for a few seconds until the job is done.

It is seated properly, in the old case it never went above 53C, but this case it better designed and has more fan so whats the problem? It does only spike for a few seconds, but I'm worried about when I'm playing demanding games...... POOF! (LOL I got it on a cut off point of 65C, but I would rather it not get there)

Strange indeed. Would be nice to mess with this to see why it's happening, but unfortunately you're in Durban and I'm in CPT. :p

One thing you do learn along the way though is that more fans don't always mean better cooling.

LOL ja

Oh and my PSu does blow in, its not uncommon among older models

I reckon the PSU fan isn't speed sensitive either then. Must be having some effect.

We actually have PSUs like that on 8 year old IBM desktops in the office. Not good.
