PC Chassis - what do you want?

Melts sound cards? Why would you think they melt sound cards? do you think perhaps you are a bit anal and took a joke out of context?

I forgot to ask if you have ever ran a 6990 and 6970 together? Seems you know how much heat they produce so what brands did you use? I get the feeling you have never even seen a 6990 in action let alone a 6990 and 6970 :D.

Although you more than likely installed them with no side fan because you say a side fan makes zero difference :D. Have you tested that theory of yours?

I own this. And yes they get hot.

Hmmm, I can see I'm going to have to add in some modular elements...
I know I like having just enough slots for what I want, but then others (cough NomNom cough :p) like having 8 HDD bays

Case on the ground or on a desk? This influences button/port placement.
Preferences on motherboard orientation? Normal (CM690), inverted (my current build) or rotated (Silverstone Raven)

Completely agree... I'm going for as small as possible so it can be completely hidden away...

Why would you want to hide it after going through all that effort? This is completely against my way of doing things :p Even my NAS (if I ever make one) will be visible!

Well hidden away is a bit of a misnomer actually..

Hidden away for me means not having a big bulky box on my desk..

I want everything to be built in... so say IN the desk.. it can still be shown off tho :)

That desk is a bit TOOO showy for me...

I'm more of an understated kinda guy tbh.

Oh and a removable motherboard try.

One thing I want one day is an HTPC case made out of proper dark stained wood, obviously with some thought as to how to minimize vibration.

That is actually something I'm currently playing with...

I am going to be rebuilding my entire Home Theatre setup, and I'm going to be working damn hard for the HTPC itself to just disappear... the AMP and all the other kit will be in a nice enclosure, very possibly holding the HTPC in a "hidden" compartment.

Ok, time to bump this thread. I'm off to the USA for 6 weeks, and will have lots of spare time to come up with ideas.
Now, I like making cases that are to be water cooled :p So do I design something that will fit this purpose exactly, or make a few compromises to allow for decent air cooling too?
Motherboard orientation is also a big question, inverted (like my current chassis) or rotated (like a Silverstone Raven RV02). Or the plain boring orientation :p There is a good chance I can get something that can be both normal, or inverted, but again, compromises...

My goal for this year is to make at least 3 of whatever idea finally settles in my mind. I just like building stuff :D So basically, you could end up with one of your own, so if you're interested, getting your ideas in now would help make it that much better for you :)
